Summary

The jungle is abominably hot. If I ever have to go there again I am going to figure out how to drink ice water just so I can cool down.

The jungle is also full of crazy confused people who make me feel like Agent Em did that one time I made my dark chocolate muffins and put in chile powder. I mean, spicy and dark chocolate go well together... I read so. And besides she is overly sensitive and the Angency had one of the empaths heal her mouth anyway, so I have no reason to be upset. Agent Em doesn't either. It was all a big misunderstanding, mismeasurement, mis-something, and I really do think I have learned enough that the Agency should fill my grocery orders for things with capsaicin again.

The Agent proofing this, Agent Elle or something, I don't know, says I should get back to the jungle.

There were many people who had been hit by the Hex Cannon. We were sent to find one being namedMikheel and perhaps any links to Senator Mannon. Ceelie and Tara did that thing where they start tasting all over the place. Kinda unsanitary. Anyway. His location was eventually determined with a neat little location ritual. Li flew over to see if he could see Mikheel.

Mikheel was in a big group of hate-filled confused people. Everyone else was staying in the car, so I got out and went to get him. I sneaked through the confused hatey people, and they didn't notice me or look at me or anything, but there were a lot of them and they all had craziness inside them. I gather that puking feels like when food you ate is mad at you and tries to escape from inside, and so I think I was about to puke but I didn't because I clamped down hard. Still it was very unpleasant and I got a little confused too.

When I got to Mikheel he was kinda at the center of all the people. He didn't look hurt, but he tasted foul when I got close. I did not try to eat any of him to make getting him out of there easier, he tasted too awful and besides they were all crazy and might have tried to eat ME. Also people would have been really angry at me. So I grabbed Mikheel's wrist and said stuff like, "Come on, it is okay, let's go this way, we need to go over here, it will be fine" like Tara does when someone is upset and she wants them to calm down and stop doing stupid things.

It did not work very well. The crazy people tried to kill me and Mikheel went nuts. I may have tried to bite him a little, but not much, just to defend myself. And besides there were all the others attacking too! That was when Li swooped down and grabbed us both and flew off.

Li is very strong.

Mikheel was very very unhappy now so I used one of my solutions to knock him out. Down below there was a hideous ruckus that was Diiman providing cover and a distraction.

Diiman is very unsubtle.

Mikheel was put in the boot of Diiman's car. I offered to dose him again so he wouldn't wake up for sure, but it made people upset and they said no so I didn't. We went back to TOA and Dan came too. All these supernice people... eeehhh. Anyway. At TOA Ceelie and other mental-type people tried to make Mikheel less amazingly foul-tasting, Ceelie said it was like he had fleas or maggots all over his mind.

No wonder he tasted so bad.

I stayed to watch the stuff they did to make him better, but it was boring. They all just stood there and made funny faces. I couldn't leave until they finished, though, and funny faces don't amuse for very long. Ceelie acted afterwards like it was really huge though, so I guess if you knew what was going on it must have been stupendous. She said it would be a whole day till Mikheel was better. Yikes...

Well people talked to Grapha about the pyramid, too! She basically said that things were really crappy and she tried to make things better and it didn't work so well. The pyramid and the book were all artifacts from people back then who didn't like how she was trying to fix things. Some of the other guys didn't seem to like the story so much, and you know, if she hadn't had enough power to fix it so people weren't being such idiots, why'd she even try? Not worth the bother.

Maybe she thought she did have enough. So she is guilty of mis-estimation. Oh well. We all make mistakes, especially if there are chile peppers.
