Oh, hi there Merki.

(GM) Chad S. (GM): The Chat Logs (raw!) have been uploaded to https://wiki.utter-chaos.net/ucwiki/index.php?title=DivineDetritusASeasLifeForMeChatLogs
I will update later when they are cleaned up.
George: Whee!
Hawk Hubertins: M...Merki?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): He's behind a steel cell and asleep at the moment. Vegeta could power up and knock the thing down.

Vegeta does as GM commands
The bars of the cage goes flying as Vegeta's fist pummels the lock.
In the blink of an eye, the half orc has a dagger in one hand and a wand in the other.
Vegeta: hehe, always ready aren't you?
Half-Orc: You haven't cornered me, you're right where I want you!
Half-Orc glares at Vegeta
Half-Orc: V-Vegeta?
Vegeta: haha, old man, glad you're still kicking
you do realize you have a lot to explain, right? haha
Merki: I have to explain a lot? You have to explain a lot!
Reziel told me you guys were coming and I was so damn worried.
Vegeta: lets just say that hyperbolic time chamber you built didnt go to waste
Merki: Hmmm...is this all of you? Where did Norvi go?
Vegeta: he's at HW working as part of the forces there
Merki: Ah, I see. Well, I guess the ruse is up, then. Let me grab my stuff.
Merki begins to dig through his backpack, full of wands, shortswords, rations and notes.
Merki: Reziel was smart and kind enough to keep me locked in here, told his dad I was his pet, so he didn't pay attention to me.
Hawk Hubertins: I wasn't sure what we'd find here, but I wasn't expecting to find you here, Merki.
Merki: That's what I like to hear. I really valued my privacy.
And I needed to be really quiet.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Ah, Abundant Ammunition used to work on special materials, but it was -nerfed- erratta'd recently.
Hawk Hubertins: That would explain my confusion.
George: Err, that was ooc.
Hawk Hubertins: From the note you left for us, it sounded like it. Also, faking your own death so... accurately sort of said that too.
Merki, other than looking for a place to lay low, what are you doing here? We came here on the trail of Baat Dracul. That... creature needs to be destroyed.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): The summary and notes are on
https://wiki.utter-chaos.net/ucwiki/index.php?title=DivineDetritusASeasLifeForMe
Merki: I met a doppleganger. Really elderly. He- er, she- er, hir wanted to die spectacularly, so I gave hir the ultimate challenge: fake my death.
Sounds like a success.
Hawk, I got so paranoid.
Hawk Hubertins: So we've gathered. We've found several of your clues, and learned a bunch about sendrine. Also encountered a bunch of artifacts that have caused some problems.
Merki: I've been researching a lot about the Fifty Years' War, the Lucavan, and this Sendrine stuff.
The Mel Family are so connected to the War and the Lucavan I got very worried, very quickly.
Hawk Hubertins: There's definitely something... odd about them.
Merki: Melvin Mel...he's been like the dad I never had. Always looked out for me. Treated mom with respect when he met her. He even tried to contact my birth father.
He always listened to my wacky ideas, even when they didn't work. Trust me, some of them didn't work at all.
I wondered- uh, is that a Kolphan?...Darius, I think? Should he be here?
Hawk Hubertins: He's with Nidri. I think he's ok. His family were very helpful when we were off on "vacation".
Merki: Alright. I gotta be careful with whom I share information with.
Reziel understood that and kept me here as his "prisoner".
So, here's the deal: I know the Mels are creatures from evil planes. Melvin is an imp and Mel'jorie is a div of some kind.
Vegeta: so you think we should take them out?
Merki: I'm not sure yet. I thought they were working with the Lucavan, but the war... hmm. I think they disagreed with the Lucavans.
Hawk Hubertins: They do seem to genuinely want what's best for Harvest Wharf and the company, but that only makes sense since that's where they live.
Vegeta: well, not like we can go around killing everything that's evil... let's start with Baat and Frieza...
Hawk Hubertins: Agreed, Vegeta.
Merki: Oh yeah, that warlord? He's been trying to collect power. He's planning something big. Maybe he's appealing to the Lucavan. I'm not sure on all the details.
Hawk Hubertins: Vegeta is very passionate about this Frieza character. I'm more interested in ending Baat.
Merki: For Baat, I know where he is. His castle is in the huge forest near a lake in the Plains. Let me look at your map.

Hawk Hubertins digs out the map and hands it to Merki
Merki: So we're in Norrison...there's the forest. Baat's castle is... here.
Vegeta: that's quite a ways away
Hawk Hubertins: Thanks Merki. I owe you another one.
Merki: And you might want to get supplies, as well.
His power increases considerably as you approach his lair.
Hawk Hubertins: So we've been told. He was kind of a pushover last time we ran into him.
Merki: You should consider the forest to be entirely compromised
Hawk Hubertins: Then again, we did have a bit of help.
Merki: And you have this Kolphan fellow on your side, right? He's a vampire hunter?
Vegeta: know anything about this axe-harp of his?

Vegeta show the axe harp the party has had for like a year
Merki: Pfft! Haha! Man, you got his weapon?
He must be pissed.
The people who spoke about him said the axe is one hell of an instrument.
There is a monastery within the forest. Maybe you can use it as a place to rest.
They're called the order of the Red Vipers.
Hawk Hubertins: And you think this "Red Vipers" place will be safe to stay at? Darius is helpful, but he's not exactly a vampire hunter.

Fi grumbles about fighting undead again.
Cat: wow that's like a month of running around lol.
Nidranisan: the vampire hunter is a different kolphan heh.
there's kind of a lot of them.

realtime 4/26 9:34 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): The Red Vipers are an order of warriors who train in soul, mind and body. They are also skilled acrobats.
Merki: ...is what I said.
They've managed to defend themselves from the insane fey of the forest and the undead that lurks. It's a bit of a trading depot, too.
If you need anything from a forest, they're the best location to look into.
Hawk Hubertins: So Merki, other than us chasing down Baat and Frieza, any suggestions for us? We're still working for the Mels at the EFTC, so in theory we could wind up getting sent anywhere.
Also, sounds like we might want to pack up supplies and head into the forest from here, though the town isn't going to be happy with us after what just happened down here.
Fi: Hmm... Technically no one knows except the Mayor, and he already knew it was going to happen.
Hawk Hubertins: They'll find out pretty quickly, Fi. I think we'll need to keep our stay here as short as possible.

Fi shrugs.
Fi: Once we're in the forest, we won't need to have supplies. We only need enough to get there.
Chris: Assuming that Fi doesn't get killed somewhere along the way.
We probably still have enough for a trip back to Deonsy since we would have bought for a round trip.
Merki: Right, right... I have no idea how Norrison will take this now that their guardian is gone and the crops will suffer.
The Lucavan are the big problem here. There's a new generation, trying to correct the mistakes of the old one. When it comes to planar outsiders, they tend to adapt slowly.
So it's surprising the Lucavan are moving so quickly. I'll head to the Port to continue my research. There are bound to be people leaving Norrison now.
For you guys, well, looks like you have a date with a vampire. Get what you need to fight undead and watch out for the fey in that forest.
Hawk Hubertins: Do you know any more about the fae we're likely to encounter beyond them being "insane"?
Merki: I haven't entered the forest myself. The few survivors say there is some kind of... festival going on. That's Baat's M.O., right?
Hawk Hubertins: It won't be for much longer. Yes, that does sound like him, at least as far as when he operates in the open.
Vegeta: Can't wait to kick some ass, heh
Nidranisan: ....we're also supposed to be checking in with the Mels. We should figure out what to tell them.
Chris: Did we tell them that we were also going to be hunting a vampire while here?
George: I thought so.
Fi: Well, we can certainly inform them of the group that we started business with. Also probably tell them about our encountering a phoenix here that had been enslaved as part of this family.
And then let them know we know of the Baat's location.
Not sure if we should bring up Frieza yet.
I assume that you still want to be dead, Merki?

realtime 4/27 9:54 am
Merki: Yeah, you can keep me dead for now. I'll tell Norrison the guardian helped me for a while. I'm not sure it's worth me sneaking out.
Nidranisan: i'm not sure we've told them about that whole family bit yet.
Vegeta: do we need to figure this out now? we're going straight for Baat, right?
Hawk Hubertins: We should make sure we're stocked for the trip, but yes, we should leave for the Red Vipers, and then to Baat's castle from there.
Hernz: we do have some loot to sell if people want to sell here, though I'm not sure how good a rep we have...

realtime 4/28 9:26 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Merki has a plan to... escape Norrison.
What's the team's plan? Escape through the ceiling into the desert? Confront the townspeople? March through the desert to Baat's castle? Return to Deonsy?
The Port is very wealthy, but you know Deonsy is more limited in terms of wealth. Norrison is basically all agriculture and won't have a huge supply of goods.
Chris: This is no place for selling loot. Most of what we got from the Harpies likely came from locals that they killed. Also not much money in this area.
George: Hawk really wants to press on straight to the forest, but if our supplies are getting low, he'd grudgingly accept heading back to Deonsy. Sounds like we should head straight out of town either way.
Chris: The forest appears to be only a touch further than Deonsy. If we have supplies to reach Deonsy, we have supplies to reach the forest.
However, our guide might not want to head that way. So we could end up on our own heading that way.
George: It's possible we should tell the townsfolk what happened, but I'm not sure they'd believe the party.
Chris: It's better to tell the Mayor. Let him figure out how to tell them.
George: Good idea. Do we know where the mayor went?
Chris: Presumably still in his house? I think we got here through secret stairs in his house.
George: I thought he left the house when we came down here to confront the phoenix.
Chris: Hmm... yeah. I guess.
Fi could always sneak around outside to check things out first.
Hernz: I dont understand the distance logic of deonsy being same distance as forest (Baat/order anyway), but veg is all for pressing....
George: I'm assuming once we're in the forest Fi will be capable of making survival checks to just feed the party.
Hernz: ah ok
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Mayor Torrin left the house to confront the town, as he expected something would happen.
George: So what do you guys think? Should we go see if we can find the mayor before we leave, or should we sneak out?
Hernz: veg doesn't care much about this town... it was just a stop on the way
as long as sneaking doesn't require a sneak roll cause we'll get caught :)
Cat: we also need to get back from the edge of the forest to, presumably, whatever our next stop is.
not sure if Fi thinks we can have enough on hand on our way out to do so or if we should be saving some rations etc for that.
Hernz: as long as he can get veg enough rice or something like that lol
Cat: there is not much grain in a forest.
does veg eat mushrooms? lol.
Hernz: we might need to get rations after all for me then lol... might have to face this town... never thought a stupid vow would create so much conflict lol
Cat: and that would be why you have to take one l\:)
Chris: What is Vegeta's actual vow? If it is just for bare necessities, then raw forest such as berries, nuts, and fruit should qualify.

Chris puts the word "food" in that statement somewhere.
Hernz: "Restriction: The monk eats nothing but rice (or a similar bland, staple food) and drinks nothing but water"

realtime 4/29 4:51 pm
Merki reads one of his books about the outer planes while the party decides their next action.
Chris: Gratz. Vegeta will be eating leaves.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): He's gotta pay for those Ki points somehow!
Chris: I feel like the limitation really isn't intended to make you starve. It should be that you have to eat the simplest possible thing given the region. Otherwise even rations would be too much.
Rice is a terrible travel food.
Probably would starve if stranded out at sea though :-P
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Nuts and berries would count as a bland, staple food.
I assume Vegeta ate a ton of bread and maybe dry beans at sea
Chris: At least nuts, leaves, maybe mushrooms.
Berries might be too extravagant ;-)
Fi is fine with just sneaking out and leaving. Also fine with heading straight to the forest.
WIll need to figure out what our guide will be doing first though.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Which guide? Erlson? He's still outside of town, not far from the Harpy nest iirc.
Oh, he stopped about an hour away from Norrison.
Chris: Yes. I meant that we would need to find him before going one way or the other.
Hernz: the main limitation is honestly so that I can't take potions and stuff like that
let's sneak out!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): What's your exit route? Fly through the ceiling? Leave through the front door? Punch a hole in the mayor's home?
Hernz: veg wouldnt need to sneak... he'd walk out the front door lol
Chris: Fi could sneak, but the rest of the party would be better off with another option.
Is flying the only way up and out from here?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You are in a cavern, connected to the mayor's home through a tunnel.
There is a hole in the ceiling Reziel flew threw.
*through
You are underground, currently.
Chris: Is there a climb DC to get through there without flying was my intention.
?
Too high is a possible answer :-P
Also how high is the hole from the ground below?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Climb DC 25 to climb the walls. It's a 50 foot high cavern.
Someone could fly out with a rope afterward, but you'll have to hoist up Fleir.
Also, whomever's on top will have to hoist up the first rope person.
Hernz: cast fly on fleir and let's make him the dragon from neverending story
(GM) Chad S. (GM): lol.
Chris: The thought had occurred to me.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Dinnertime for me- deconstructed burrito bake!
Hernz: how many 3/4 lvl spells does Claire have? might be able to fly a few and have Fleir take the rest
Chris: Meghan is busy right now, so I can't ask.
Anyone remember how much knotting a rope shortens it?
Fi and Fleir could sneak out, and get to the opening of the hole above. Then drop a knotted rope down for a DC 5 climb check.
Fi has 100' of silk rope. Hopefully knotting doesn't do worse than halfing the length.
Hernz: I cant imagine it would
Cat: i have plenty of flying left too.
though i may not be great at tying the rope at the top.
Meghan: I didn't realize those battles were the same day. I probably have about 4 or 5 3rd list spells left, and 1 or 2 4th list
but I don't think I've used up my flying ability
Chris did a count
I have two 3rd list spells left, and one 4th list
Chris: So we have 4 people and 1 large animal to fly out of here with 2 people having their own way of flying?
I suppose Fi could ride Fleir.
Or to save on postage (spell slots) we could try Fi's option.
Or meet in the middle, with Fi and Fleir sneaking, and everyone else flying.
Meghan: take the rope. tie everyone who's not flying together. Cast fly on Fleir. Give Fleir the rope
the hilarity of a string of people getting whacked against the side of the walls as fleir tries to maneuver her way out is the added bonus here
George: Fi and Flier sneak, the rest of us fly sounds like a good plan to me.
I mean, chad wouldn't throw a third combat at us in the same day, right?
Chris: We kinda walked right into that one ;-)
(GM) Chad S. (GM): So, sneaking for Fi and Fleir? Everyone else either flies out or waits for Fi and Fleir's rope.
Cat: sounds good. nidri will fly.
let me know how many minutes of wings to mark off and whether a fly check is needed.
Fi:
Chris: Ooh. 2 crappy rolls.
Cat: heh.

Fi and Fleir poke their head out of the Mayor's home.
Some of the crops are already withering. Townspeople are gathered around the mayor, worried about the future of Norrison.
Misha and Helga are busy calming everyone down. Misha looks right at Fi, but she's so far away she doesn't recognize him before a panicked citizen distracts her.
Fi and Fleir sneak through the concerned citizens and out of Norrison.
Chris: Anything special needed for us to meet up again and find our guide?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Make your Perception and Survival checks.
Chris:
Sneaking out of town for an hour, the elf and wolf pair don't see Erlson. Tracking his steps, Fi sees Erlson's footsteps turn towards Deonsy for a bit before the desert sands erodes his steps.

i'm...not a helper.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Lots of sand.
Hernz: lol
Cat: i hate sand.
Hernz: so is Fi back with us yet? or are we waiting for him?
Chris: Nope! You guys are on your own. Good luck.
I'm sure Fi manages to find you guys.
Fi: Looks like Erlson already was heading back to Deonsy.
Vegeta: excellent... I was getting tired of babysitting the old man

realtime 5/2 1:50 pm
Fi sneaks around Norrison and meets his teammates, who reach the surface after two minutes of flight and a lot of climbing.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): So, where to next? You are 2 days away from Deonsy, and 2 desert days + 5 forest days from the Order of the Red Vipers monastery/trading post.
Fi, you also need to think about that Harpy egg. It won't survive for more than a few days, a week at most.
Hernz: I believe we said we'd go for the order
Chris: What is it lacking? Heat?
Pretty sure I could bundle it into my clothes with me for warmth.
Haha... Fi would look pregnant.
Hernz: and really confuseveg
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Heat is the principal requirement.
Hernz: let vegeta and claire blast it from time to time, lol
(GM) Chad S. (GM): FIYAH
Regardless of which way you're going, give me Survival checks. 4 of 'em!
Hernz: veg will help
Vegeta:
Hernz: solid....
George: Hawk is letting other people make the survival checks... He'd probably just get in the way.
Chris:
Fi will do what is necessary to keep the egg healthy, as long as it doesn't get in the way of of the other party members. She doesn't want them asking her to ditch it.
She should be able to get the appropriate temperature with her blankets and body heat. I think Nidri also offered some spell, but I don't remember what it was or if it would help.
Chris: Anything I should roll daily to keep it healthy?
Cat: it was endure elements, and about 95% joke.
but if it will actually work, she'll cast it.
Cat: i'm a helper!

realtime 5/3 7:48 pm
The party continues through the desert. Sometimes goblins and giant scorpions attack but they are quickly outmatched and sent packing.

August 13, 1236 AD (morning)

Fi seems very distracted and focuses all his energy on keeping the egg warm. Nidri manages to find a ton of desert rodents overnight, and the party is able to eat.

August 13, 1236 AD (evening)

Fi is back to form by the nighttime. The harpy egg is wrapped up in various cloths and blankets.

August 14, 1236 AD (noon)

The desert sand gives way to small grass and a large forest full of trees.
Glad to escape the desert, the party breaks for lunch to clean their clothing out.

He seems to be tracking your movements.
Hernz: lying in wait... to attack?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You aren't sure. He has no weapons drawn.
You are able to make out a quarterstaff and a crossbow on his backside.
Vegeta: be cautious everyone... fi, get ready to fire...
Hernz: is this a new day or same day?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): 2 days later you left Norrison.
Vegeta: you guys see that up there? want to call it out or just kill it, heh
Fi: I shoot for two reasons: To deal with threats and to hunt for food. If you find that person threatening, I'll have to adjust my opinion of you. And if you are hungry, even more so.
Vegeta: hahaha! you do have a sense of humor from time to time
the great prince vegeta would never be threatened by that idiot haha
Fi: Didn't think so.
Darius Kolphan: Does...anything threaten you, Vegeta?
Vegeta: haha, well put Darius!
I just don't want a stray arrow taking one of you down again, heh... ok, let's keep going, I'll keep an eye on him
Hawk Hubertins: Shouting towards the figure in the trees Hello there!
Vegeta: that's a way to get their attention
Hooded Figure: Hmpf. I see I am not as good at hiding as I had hoped.
Hello there. Please, I must warn you the forest is a very dangerous place right now.
Vegeta: and you are?
Hooded Figure: Ah... give me a moment to get down and we can converse closely.
No funny business!
The hooded creature climbs down from the tree and approaches your campsite.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Assuming you don't shoot him...
Hernz: yeah we dont... fi def wont
The hooded figure approaches you. He turns to look at each of you and pauses as he views Darius.
Hooded Figure: Darius? Darius Kolphan? What are you doing up here?
Darius Kolphan stands up
Darius Kolphan: Well it is simple. I am a...
MAN. OF. ACTION!
Hooded Figure: MAN OF ACTION!
Hooded Figure and Darius pose in perfect unison. Darius laughs
Darius Kolphan: Do not worry, you are among friends here.
Take that hood off, Ventshi.
Ventshi removes his hood and smiles. At least you think it's a smile.
Ventshi's body is covered in golden scales, and his head is less of a human's head and more of a cobra's head.
He looks a little like this: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/4f/73/8b/4f738b22186c6e04824e9d00433c99e9.jpg
(GM) Chad S. (GM): If that link breaks, you can also try this: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/491314640571503824/
But his skin is gold, not green.
Ventshi: My apologies, but like I said: The forest is a dangerous place. I did not mean you harm, but I would defend myself if you lashed out.
Hernz: cobra LALALALALALALA
Hawk Hubertins: Welcome and well met, Ventshi. I'm Hawk. My companions and I are headed for the Order of the Red Vipers. We're no strangers to dangerous places, but I do thank you for the warning.
We've already heard that the forest is home to malicious fae of various sorts. What can you tell us about the dangers of which you spoke?
Ventshi squats, revealing his scaled muscular legs.
Ventshi: Well, the Order of the Red Vipers is part monastery, part trading post. It's how we pay for repairs and food.
We mostly trade with goods found in the forest. Most of the plains is barren, and the forest itself is plentiful.
The denizens of the forest have a partnership with us. They like to share with the people here, but they don't like to interact directly- they are almost as secluded as my Order!
We protect them from interlopers and overzealous hunters, they provide us with valuable goods to live on, and the plains trades with us for them.
My journeys brought me around the world, and to the Isle of the Sun to get some acting lessons from Darius Kolphan- remind me to tell you about that later- but... something called me back.
There is a castle in the middle of the forest we do not venture near- the creatures of the forest warned us it is very dangerous, and even they keep clear.
Vegeta: just where we're heading... perfect
Ventshi: Do you... know what is in there?
I have heard tales of creatures who are neither alive nor dead.
A horrible perversion of the natural order.
Vegeta: And we're here to destroy that, count on it
Ventshi: Some of the merchants escaped the forest, and said they were assaulted by the creatures of the forest. I... don't understand it all, but I did not want you to walk to your death.
Vegeta: were these creatures regular forest creatures, or... more undead? we ran into some before
Ventshi: The reports were vague, but from what I could tell they were assaulted with swords, bows and scythes. I have seen their woulds heal almost instantly.
George: Hey Chad, can I make a skill check of some kind to think up what kind of thing would heal like that?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Knowledge (Nature) is key.
Hawk Hubertins:
(To Hawk Hubertins): With this talk about Fey, you are aware of their regenerative abilities and resistance to anything that isn't cold-forged iron. The weapons imply some kind of humanoids. Bacchae do like to party, but they are reclusive by nature.
Hawk Hubertins: Sounds like humanoid fae of some kind. I'm not exactly sure what kind though.
Nidranisan: you...basically know someone everywhere, don't you.

realtime 5/6 2:33 pm
Ventshi and Darius improvise some acting as the party finishes their lunch.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Ventshi's Perform (Acting) 21
Darius's Perform (Acting) 31
Ventshi has a knack for it, but Darius has the experience.
Vegeta: you should practice playing dead... that might come in handier than whatever you're doing...
Ventshi breaks into laughter.
Darius Kolphan: Always ready for battle, this one. Should we get moving?
Vegeta: now you're talking my style
Ventshi: Well, sounds like it's time to go. Darius, you must tell me more about your lovely wife here.
Ventshi bows respectfully to Nidri
Darius Kolphan: Ahhh...not married yet. But yes, it's time to go.
The forest trail is easy to follow. Wooden signposts indicate which way the monastery lies.
Ventshi seems to be in relatively good spirits, with a spring in his step. Yet he is alert, keeping an eye out for danger.
That night, you find an abandoned campsite. Some of the tents are torn to shreds, and you see bloodied bedrolls, pots and pans. You even see a few discarded weapons- perhaps merchants set up camp here, and something attacked them.

August 15, 1236 AD

Deeper into the forest the trail is less of a dirt road and more like less undergrowth. It hasn't been maintained in maybe the last two weeks, perhaps a month. No problem for Fi and Fleir.
Hernz: I take it nothing worth taking from that camp weapons?
Tree leaves cover your view of the sun- it's hard to tell the direction without using other clues. Only the red glow of sunset indicates the passage of time.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Basic non-magical non-masterwork swords and maces.
Ventshi grows worried.
Vegeta: what's the matter?
Ventshi: One of our duties is to maintain the road from our monastery to the edges of the forest. You can't trade effectively without easy ways of travel.
Ventshi looks at the thin line of grass and bushes.
Ventshi: For the road to be in this rough shape...it means the Order is not active.
M-maybe they are all meditating?
Vegeta: how long would it take for these roads to get this bad? who order has all members meditating for that long?
Ventshi: We try to maintain the road on a weekly basis, at least. Two of us volunteer to clean.
I had hoped I was underestimating the situation. But here we are.
Vegeta: when was the last time you were at the monestary?
Ventshi: Two years ago. Master Raiden gave me his blessing to travel the world and learn how to use my abilities for more than pure combat. To improve the soul and the mind.
Vegeta: were you on your way back? quite the coincidence for us to run into you

Vegeta does not say that in any accusing tone or anything
Ventshi: Deep in meditation, I tried to align my soul with that of the world. The way of brass dragon encourages communication and control over violence.
But a vision came across me, and it went straight to my core. Master Raiden, crying out in pain. I had never seen anything hurt him that badly.
So, I bid the acting troupe goodbye and made my way back to the monastery.
Luckily for me you were on your way up here as well.
Vegeta: sounds like we should hurry there then... how far are we?
Ventshi: About three days. We'll make it there by the dead of midnight.

August 16, 1236 AD (midnight)

(GM) Chad S. (GM): If you wanted to do anything on the 15 or 16th, let me know.
Two more days of travel pass. Occasional clues left behind- tattered clothing here, blood trail there, broken branches and twigs- indicate some kind of fight, some kind of struggle that was maybe days old.
Ventshi's enthusiasm has worn away and turned into raw determination. He needs answers about his monastery, the creatures that live within, and the lack of travelers in this region.
The light is dim throughout this part of the forest- maybe the vegetation is too thick. You press on. You spot one humanoid hiding in the trees. It skin bright as the autumn leaves, it quickly turns and flees through the treeline like it was dashing across the open road.
Vegeta: [ventshi] any idea who/what that was?
Ventshi: That was... remember the creatures of the forest, whom we protect and trade with? That is one of them, maybe a scout. I'm surprised you noticed it so easily.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): (To GM) rolling 1d20+12
(
14
)+12
= 26
(GM) Chad S. (GM): There's a chance you wouldn't have seen it, Vegeta
buuuuut I'm gonna just assume you did.
Vegeta: 18
tha's +20... numlock was off
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Like I said, a chance you wouldn't have seen it.
Buuuuut you totally did
Ventshi: We... should be careful.
Vegeta: how far are we?
Ventshi pulls a wand from his belt and hands it to Claire.
Ventshi: If you could, please.
Ventshi hisses as a transparent field forms around him. He takes the wand back.
Ventshi: If we hurry we would make it to the monastery close to midnight.
Hernz: trying to gauge hours so I know if I shoudl power up ahead
Ventshi: But that's at least half an hour away.
Er, half a day away!
Hernz: thanks
(GM) Chad S. (GM): No problem. I'll be on later today to catch people's reactions.
Meghan: what was that wand?
armor?
Fi:
Chris: For the other day.
I'll roll some stuff to see if Fi has any more clues on what events have occurred along the path.
Fi:
Chris: lol. nope.
Vegeta:
Hernz: I help a little...rolled a 2... not gonna help much to a roll of 1 lol
Cat:
gets it to 20 ;)
nidri probably laughs out loud when ventshi says "wife"
if it's less than 9 hours, i'll armor up.
George: Hawk would have chatted with Ventshi about the acting troupe on the way, if he was willing to talk. Also, k/nature to identify the "scout" after we see it?
Hawk Hubertins:

realtime 5/7 11:15 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Later Today!
>_>
That was a wand of Mage Armor.
Fi can tell many humanoids were in some kind of struggle, but it's not clear which general direction they came from.
Nidri's skin hardens, like a demon's scales.
Ventshi talks to Hawk about the acting troupe. They mostly travel through the Isle of the Sun, where there is lots of patronage. Many of their members have spun off to the other cities and continents.
(To Hawk Hubertins): With the quick view of the creature and the descriptions, you've heard stories about these types from one particularly happy party-goers. These creatures are fey prone to revelry and celebration, similar to Bacchae. These types focus less on wine and bestial rages and more on charms and manipulation of plant life. With all that you've heard and the proximity to Baat, though you wouldn't be surprised if something bad happened to change them...
(To Hawk Hubertins): Your roll was good enough to ask one question about them: special abilities, defenses, skills and attacks.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Lunch time...
(From George): Ok, what are its special abilities?

Vegeta will power up as they get within 30-60 mins away from the temple
Hernz: if I were chad's boss, I might start questioning his lunch breaks... lol
(To Hawk Hubertins): They seem to be trained in catching people unaware in sneak attacks, enhancing their movement and manipulating the earth itself (plants and rocks.)

realtime 5/8 8:51 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): lol, I gotta stop promising I'll return midday
Will you follow the scout? Ignore them?
George: I say we ignore the scout for now and push on to the monastery, which is what Ventshi seems to want to do.
Keep wanting to call him "Venti", but that way lies madness. And starbucks.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): lol.
The party decides to press on, but it's clear at this point that someone is watching them.
The day continues. The sun's warmth is felt, but not seen.
The forest is much quieter than it should be. Fi notes this usually happens when a predator has just cleared the area.
Baat Daculon: Bruh, shouldn't have come here. Now you're in my world.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Make perception checks.
George:
Baat's voice echoes throughout the forest.
Fi:
Fleir:
Chris: srsly. Fi is doing awesome right now.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Just get those bad rolls out of the way!
Vegeta: perception 23
Hernz: I failed us lol
Chris: Welcome to the club. We've got shirts.
George: Wait, Hawk has the highest roll this time? He's the one who notices things?
Cat:
ayup. i'll be over here.
"I can't hear any fish!"
Meghan:
I think that's actually a 6, unless I still have Fear on
err, 7
not that it matters

realtime 5/9 9:00 am
Baat Daculon: But, like, if you want to join the celebration of everything that is Baat, you've come to the right place! Let's see how far you get.
Hernz: yay to our perceptions!
Vegeta: you going to show yourself or just hide behind a tree?
Baat Daculon: Nah, bro, I'm not even there! Everyone here serves me now, so they told me you were coming.

Hawk Hubertins 's mood visibly darkens.
Ventshi Perception 30
Darius Kolphan Perception 26
Ventshi: Everyone?
Hmm. I fear we are in great danger. Let us make haste to the monastery.
Darius Kolphan: Let us not keep our host waiting.
Vegeta: you just wait Baat... we'll come... you might want to get your wings ready to fly away again
Darius Kolphan chuckles
Darius Kolphan: The last time my friends met him, he cried for his mother's bosom and fled.
Vegeta: anyway, lead the way ventshi... I've not time to waste on this coward
The march is tiring, and the undergrowth accumulates. You hear very little in the forest, and by the time the sunsets and you rely on torches for light, you see some undead. Some skeletons and zombies, wearing relatively fresh clothing, wander aimlessly.
Destroying them is trivial for seasoned adventurers like you, and the identities of their former lives are obvious: merchants, traders, travelers claimed by undeath.
You even find some druids, dressed in animal cloth and wielding clubs, rocks, and their own broken bones.
Ventshi: We have about two more hours until we reach the monastery. I would like to press on, but I know you are all tired. Should we rest out here first? I don't know what to expect from the Order now.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You can choose two hours of a Forced March, or risk sleeping outside.
Hernz: will we have to make fort saves to not be fatigued or soemthing if we do?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): For a Forced March, you will make a DC 10 and DC 12 Fort Save (Endurance Feat bonus does count). If you fail, you take 1d6 Nonlethal Damage and you are Fatigued until the damage is healed off.
Vegeta: I'm good with pushing, but not sure if the rest can keep up
Hawk Hubertins: It's been a while since I've had to travel like that, but I think I can handle it.
Chris: bleh. Fi would ride Fleir, but the forced march rules for mounts are bad. Also wouldn't account for going slower than Fleir's speed, and not having carried me the rest of the day.
Hernz: well, worst case can't we just pop a heal on you and bam, all set?
Chris: Yeah. I just thought it would be amusing to have Fleir carry Fi, but the rules say no.
I wouldn't even make her go over light encumbrance, and it would go from checks that she can't fail to checks that she auto fails.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Okay, sounds like a forced march. Give me 2 Fort Saves, DC 10 and DC 12. Endurance and similar bonuses apply.
Ventshi: Fort Saves: 24 13
Darius Kolphan: Fort Saves: 15 20
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Darius with the clutch
Fi:
Fleir:
Vegeta:
Hernz: HAHAHAHA
Chris: You win.
Hernz: figured the big talking vegeta fails haha
Hawk Hubertins:
Hernz: talk about just making them! lol
George: Yes, but he did make them. ;)
Hernz: better than veg, yup!
Meghan:

Meghan shrugs
Cat:
right-o then.
You endure the first hour without trouble. But the second hour of travel takes its toll on Vegeta and Claire.
Cat: if it's possible to stop like 5 minutes outside for cures lmk.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta takes 1 nonlethal and Claire takes 4 nonlethal damage.
Yup, you can try to heal.
Hernz: that will get rid of the 2 dex/str penalty?
Walking up to the monastery walls, you take a moment to recover from exhaustion.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Healing will cure the exhaustion and remove your fatigue.

Vegeta powers up
The tattered symbols of the Order of the Red Vipers hang on the walls.
Ventshi focuses inward, and his bronze scales shine.
Ventshi: Prepare yourself.
Ventshi readies his staff.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Alright folks, prepare your buffs.
And someone heal Vegeta and Claire. Nidri can just burn 2 Cure Light Wounds to remove the fatigue.
Hernz: hey, testing something with the sounds.. can you type something?
Bloodstains line the entrance to the Order.
Hernz: yes!
so if it's a separate window, you get the noise... if it's a separate tab, you don't
and by noise I mean the sound of someone posting something here
With the amount of carnage and corpses outside, it's surprisingly clean.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): In Chrome when I switch back to this tab for the first time all of the messages beep at once, super loud.
Hernz: right, if you have it as a separate chrome window, instead of a tab on the same, it beeps like it should to notify you
Cat: k, i'll mark off 2 cure lights.
chad, how much prep time do we have? a couple rounds?
i assume it's clear we're prepping for a fight?
also, how big is this monastery? :)

Hawk Hubertins readies his bow and warms up his voice a bit.

realtime 5/10 11:21 am
The outer walls surround a half-mile square of dirt and weather-worn stone. Merchant stalls line up the walls, some hastily abandoned and others flipped over and used as a desperate form of cover.
Ventshi directs you to the center training pit, used as the entrance to the actual monastery. Thirty foot walls separate it from the rest of the grounds.
The twenty five foot massive wooden doors that used to be an entrance are gone, cleaned and cleared.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Alright, time to pull up the map.
Stones, debris and rubble are scattered through the training pit. You see several humanoids who were once merchants, hunched over and delirious with some kind of thirst. They turn around as soon as you enter and seem to scream.
From the back, you see six snake-like creatures, just like Ventshi. They stand at attention and their scales shine but their eyes stare without blinking.
The last person, in the back raises his hand and the ravenous merchants fall silent.
Ventshi: M-m... Master Raiden. I came as soon as I could.
Master Raiden: I should not have called you here, Ventshi. The new Master told me to call my students here. I resisted with mind and body, but without the soul I am off-balance.
Fight with all of your might, Ventshi. Fight with honor, and know your victory will prevent the Order from further tarnish. Know that your failure will damn your soul until the great dragon claims us all.
Now come!
The Master lowers his hand and carefully takes a fighting stance. His students shout and prepare for combat. The hunger overcomes the merchants' sense of self preservation and they rush at the party, thirsting for blood.

Battle: vs Master Raiden and the Order of Red Vampires

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Roll for Initiative
Ventshi: Initiative: 13
Darius Kolphan: Initiative: 20
Master Raiden: Initiative 5
(GM) Chad S. (GM): And the other enemy initiatives: 68
You have time to buff for 2 rounds. You can make 2 K Religion checks to identify the undead merchants and the students of the Red Vipers.

Fi casts Ironskin on Fleir
Fi:
Fleir:
Hawk Hubertins:
George: Does Fi want AA?
Chris: Only if you don't have anything more important to prep.
George: Ok, Hawk will cast AA on Fi, and then Haste on the party just before combat starts.

George casts Abundant Ammunition on Fi's quiver!
George: School: N/A; Level 1
Casting Time: 1 standard
Components: V, S, M/DF (a single piece of ammunition)
Range: One container, touched
Targets/Area: N/A
Duration: 1 min/level
George: Saving Throw: DC 17, ; Spell Resistance: No
Hawk Hubertins:
Vegeta:
Meghan: possibly prep spells:
invis, greater.
resist energy
cat's grace
eagle's splendor
fly
Meghan: also armor
Hernz: for armor, that last long enough that you could have prepped it hrs ago
Cat:
George: Hawk will start singing on his turn.
But he doesn't go until the end of the round.
Cat: just dropping nidri somewhere central enough that everyone gets hit w/prayer
prep formation :)
that's my two preps.
Meghan: i've already had my armor prepped for ages
I keep myself 1 or 2 first list spells down at all times, assume it's up all day
does anyone else want something from my list
?
otherwise I think I'm going improve invis and probably doing my wing thing
Chris: A fly or invis on Fi could be hilarious.
Meghan: yeah it could
for fi
aaand because it's funny, greater invis on fi as well.
right before we start
Meghan: Hmmm.
Chris pointed out that he wouldn't be able to do a full round attack while flying
so maybe take back that first fly spell and put greater invis on both of us instead
(because he doesn't have enough points in fly to hover?"
though he's checking and he only needs to roll a 7 to hover
Chris: I think it depends on if I'm allowed to do full round attacks while flying. I would need to roll a 7 to hover. So if I manage to hover, would I get a full round attack?
Cat: btw are any of these ppl still alive and we're trying not to kill them, or it is just all out get it done?
Chris: From what the master said, everyone here has lost their soul. Probably need the results from the k. religion check to decide if just killing them is the only option.
So, people with K Religion should roll it!
2 checks!
Hawk Hubertins:
Vegeta: Hawk, what works best against these things?
Meghan:
oh, right. nevermin
realtime 5/11 11:15 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hawk recognizes the former merchants as Vampire Spawn. Silver weapons cut right through their thick skin, and they resist cold and electricity.
The Vampire Spawn can drain the very life from you with a single hit, and are immune to many of the things undead are immune to.
Master Raiden and his students are also Vampires, and they possess the power to dominate your will. You expect them to have some kind of martial training, as well.

Round 1

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Nidri and Fi are up first.
Cat:
i'm a helper?
how tall are the rocks/is there a ceiling or are we in a courtyard?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You are in an open courtyard, surrounded by 30 foot walls.
Cat: let's say 10' up
just out of reach basically
(GM) Chad S. (GM): There isn't much more to know about them besides what Hawk mentioned. Holy water and divine magic will work well.
The stones are about 5 feet tall.
Cat: yup i can bust out some cures for the big ones :)
Hernz: The rest of us flatfooted this round? I think so, right?
Chris: Sorry, It was a meeting night.
Fi will fly 30' up and cast.
lol. I think since haste is up, I've got to fly further at minimum.

Fi casts Gravity Bow!
Fi: Duration: 9 minutes
realtime 5/12 11:51 am
Fi flies up and prepares to shoot.
Darius draws his longsword and casts Heroism on Vegeta.
Darius Kolphan: They look undead, yes? Many of my tricks will not work on them.
So, you must do the hard work.
As Darius speaks, the undead begin to surround the party. One of the students runs ahead with unnatural speed, while another lifts off the ground towards Fi.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir is up.
Chris: They see Fi?
Claire put a greater invis on him.
Do I need to make a stealth roll?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Oops, she's invis?
Lemme roll that back.
Okay, that's better.
Chris: Fi, not Fleir.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Okay, they don't seem to notice Fi.

Fleir bites Undead C9.
Fleir:
Vegeta: Thanks Darius! love this power boost!
Meghan: ... I don't think i rolled initiative
... for fuck's sake
the one time
Cat: so like, now...
can't you get a bunch of them because fi is flying?
fiiiiire....
realtime 5/14 3:18 pm
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Happy Mother's Day to you mothers out there.
For the sake of my sanity, I'm going to put Claire's initiative to right now instead of retconning enemy movements.
So, Claire is up.
Fleir bites twice and destroys one of the former merchants.
Meghan: better to get students or undead?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Law of Conservation of Ninjitsu sez the Undead are weaker, but the students are more likely to resist.
Meghan: That's probably my best bet for a fireball right now
yeah, but the students are probably a bigger threat overall
(GM) Chad S. (GM): ...Is that your final answer?
Meghan: O
I'm checking
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I should probably find some cone and circle templates
One sec.
Meghan: yeah, I'll fireball students e and c, and undead e5
Claire is attacking with Fireball
Fireball uses remaining: 6
Damage: 25 to each creature in area of effect
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Okay, I found 30 foot Cone templates if you ever need them.
Meghan: I also have a 60' line attack
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I don't think I have any line assets, you'll have to rely on your MS Paint skillz
Meghan: and scale up fromhttp://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat/space-reach-threatened-area-templates/
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Alright time for the honored tradition: Fireballs vs Zombies
Student C's Reflex Save: 10
Student E's Reflex Save: 26
Vampire Spawn's Reflex Save: 17
Claire unleashes a burst of flame, nearly burning one of the former merchants and scorching one of the serpentine students. The other one presses his body to the ground and stands up immediately afterward, evading the blast altogether.
Ventshi: I always wanted that rematch, but not like this!
Ventshi takes but a moment to change his fighting stance.
Ventshi: The glory of the bronze dragon will purify you and repel evil!
Flaming Quarterstaff +1: AC 19 for 8 bludgeoning and 1 fire damage
Unarmed Strike: AC 24 for 9 bludgeoning
Unarmed Strike: AC 26 for 10 bludgeoning
Ventshi's quarterstaff goes wide, but he quickly kicks and elbows one of the former students in the chest.
One of the students and two merchants rush you, preparing to strike.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta is up.
I'm putting the templates off to the right of the map.
Meghan: thanks!
Vegeta: It's getting a little crowded in here, let's clean some of you up, shall we?

Vegeta spends 1 ki as swift to up his AC by 4 for the round, then moves right of Undead E5, provoking from both E4 and E5
Hernz: two provokes from each if they have them
Vegeta: outta my way!

Vegeta shoots a Galick Gun hitting E5, stud C, C5, and whatever that is next to stud C
Vegeta:
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Did they roll a 20? 10 11
Vegeta fires a bolt of flame, instantly destroying one of the merchants.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Undead's Reflex Save: 4
Student's Reflex Save 26
Hernz: wow wow waawwy
The Student of the Viper crouches underneath the stream, hitting the other undead instead.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): TOASTY
Hernz: what about C5?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Oh, C5's in the way? 5
MULTIKILL
Hernz: yeah 60 ft line
Vegeta: well well, seems like someone who actually knows how to handle themselves... you're next
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Undead B2 charges Fleir, hitting AC 14
As two of the undead charge, one of the students floats above the ground.
Master Raiden hisses and charges at Vegeta.
Master Raiden: Hits AC 19 for 23 damage
(GM) Chad S. (GM): lol
Ventshi: Master! No!
Hernz: and now he's at -2 AC for next round... he'st toast
For a moment, Master Raiden seems to struggle as Ventshi calls to him, and his charging headbutt misses.
Vegeta: well well, thank you for bringing the party here!
Master Raiden: So brash...the Vegeta style did emphasize an overwhelming opening.
The last student joins his master as the undead pile up around Hawk and Darius.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hawk, Fi and Nidri are up.

George is activating his Bard ability, Inspire Courage +2
George: +2 morale bonus to attack, damage, and save vs fear & charm
Inspire Courage +2 uses remaining: 34
Note: Effect lasts for 2 rounds after song has ended.

Hawk Hubertins is activating his Bard ability, Inspire Courage +2
Hawk Hubertins: +2 morale bonus to attack, damage, and save vs fear & charm
Inspire Courage +2 uses remaining: 34
Note: Effect lasts for 2 rounds after song has ended.

Hawk Hubertins is attacking Student C with his Composite Short Bow!
Hawk Hubertins: Attack Result: 34
(Needs at least 34 to crit.)
Damage Result: 10
Crit: 20/x3
Crit Confirm: 26
Crit Damage: +9
Hawk Hubertins: Type: P
Nidranisan: Darius, you need some backup prep over there?
I can help with your defenses.

Fi attempts to hover.
Fi:
Hernz: I hope they're not crit immune... that'd be awesome :)
George: Yeah, if they're not crit immune, Hawk just put a nice hole in Student C. Even if they are, that's not a bad bit of damage, assuming they don't have huge DR.
Hernz: oh right... I think you had figured it was silver?
Chris: magic + silver is what we used on Baat's last vampiric set.
Thankfully, still have those.
Fi will attack Student C. Student E will be the next target if C falls.
George: I don't appear to have his arrows listed on Hawk's sheet. If we got the silver ones, I'd assume Hawk was using them too. If not, he just has magic.
Hernz: can your attack that concentrates all damage be split or do you have to call it beforehand? (veg has to)
Chris: It just says that all attacks on the same target count before DR is applied.
Shouldn't matter, because I've got silver arrows from last time.
Cat: chad -- if darius wants help i will fly over to the square above him 5' up and cast shield of faith, if he says no, i'll draw my knife, get in flanking with vegeta, and cast a cure critical on the master. if i'm not around feel free to process that to move along if you want :)
Fi:
Chris: Hmm. missing the haste.
Hernz: we're hasted too
George: Haste, Bardsong, Prayer.
Fi:
Chris: That is all 4 with correct modifiers.
nice 2d6s on the first and last.
Hernz: wow...
Ventshi: Ah, watch out! We learned how to-
5/15 1:50 pm
Ventshi: Deflect arrows fired at us.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Crit denied, sorry Hawk.

Round 2

Fi maintains his position and fires upon Student C, hitting him 3 times.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): (To GM) rolling 11+19+12
11+19+12

Darius Kolphan: I would certainly take the assistance, Nidri.
Nidri lowers herself and touches Darius. A shimmering field of light forms around him as he breathes a sigh of relief.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Undead needs to roll a 20: 17 6
Ventshi effortlessly parries the merchants' fists as he focuses on the student in front of him.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Student's Stunning Fist: AC 29 for 10 and DC 15 Fort Save 18
Student's Unarmed Strike: AC 13 for 11
Student's Unarmed Strike: AC 15 for 11
One of the student's blows almost dizzy Ventshi, but he regains his balance.
Darius Kolphan: I ah, will...defend my friends from harm! Heroically!
I will attack 2
This one, up here!
Longsword +1, Prayer, Haste, Inspire Courage +2: 28 for 5 damage
Oh, you said silver, yes? Well then.
Darius Kolphan drops his longsword and draws a dagger
Darius Kolphan: Always be prepared!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): E4 has two juicy targets. Which one to drink from first?
Even is Nidri 1
Vampire Slam vs Darius: AC 21 for 5 damage
Darius visibly shudders as the merchant seems to drain his energy.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Perception 33
Watching her training partner get riddled with arrows, Student E realizes someone is nearby. "Around here." She hisses.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Perception 18
One of the students rises above the ground and flies right underneath Fi. "Where? Here?"
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir and Claire are up next.
Cat: (the shield of faith is +3 deflection bonus to AC)
Hernz: hm... which area to fireball? .... hm....

Fleir bites Student A
Fleir:
Hernz: no trip?
Chris: let me type :-P
Hernz: lol, thought it was auto added before lol
Fleir: Trip attempts 24 25 35
Chris: I couldn't get them to mix with the new template, so I gave up on that.
Hernz: if the first one works, I think the +4 once tripped makes the 2nd connect
Chris: We can hope.
Too bad I rolled a 4 for the trip on the good attack...
Hernz: whats a normal CMD? 10+str+dex+misc? I think you got that beat for medium sized... probably
Did Claire roast them with a fireball yet? :D
realtime 5/16 12:56 pm
Fleir bites and yanks the initiate over, then bites into him twice more.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Yeah, attacking while prone was the difference.
Claire is up next.
Cat: honestly tempted to suggest a burning arc on the three surrounding darius.
i figure fleir, veg, and ventshi can handle themselves, but we literally have all the crunchies right here :|
(GM) Chad S. (GM): No frontline for you!
Hernz: did the third fleir hit.. hit? it was a crit miss, right? not sure from your desc if all 3 hit
(GM) Chad S. (GM): All 3 hit because the student was prone
Hernz: but the third was a crit miss...
prone ignores crit miss?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Oh, that was 1? Nope, still misses
Only 2 hit
Chris: Lol. I just looked at invisibility. Evidently I get a +2 when attacking and they are denied dex to AC...
That means, Fi probably hit Student C all 4 times earlier.
Cat: niiice.
Meghan: ... this would be wrong, right?
this is not something my LG character would do.
... might do that, though
but student C is almost dead... what do you guys think?
Cat: B is also 30 ft up
so it doesn't hit all 4 of those.
Meghan: damn
so the row on the right might be just better
I could do this with a higher level spell, too
I think I'm gonna
Cat: yeah stay back a square heh.
Meghan: because they're less injured than the ones by Fi
what do we think? fire, acid, or ice?
Cat: i'd go fire.
Meghan: k

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Thanks for leaving the template
Hernz: those are awesome btw!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): F12's Reflex Save 5
I finally found ones that scale correctly
Student D's Reflex 10
The other Student's Reflex 11
Hernz: great rflx saves lol
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Failure
Oh hey, there's another Undead 11
Claire releases a gout of flame from her mouth, reducing two of the merchants to a fine dust.
Ventshi slams his fists together and they burst into flame.
Ventshi: Well done. Let us finish this quickly, I must confront my Master.
Flaming Quarterstaff +1: AC 37 for 12 bludgeoning and 3 fire damage
Crit Confirm: AC 18 for 11 bludgeoning and 3 fire damage
Dragon Style, Draconic Fury Unarmed Strike: AC 22 for 20 bludgeoning and 1 fire damage
Ventshi swings his staff and headbutts one of the students. He turns into a cloud that quickly travels through the northern hallway.
Ventshi: Vegeta, help me defeat my master.
Dragon Style, Draconic Fury Unarmed Strike: AC 30 for 19 bludgeoning and 1 fire.
Haste: AC 30 for 16 bludgeoning and 4 fire.
Vegeta: not bad lizard man...
Ventshi: Ki Attack: AC 17 for 18 bludgeoning and 4 fire.
Master Raiden taught me w-well!
Ventshi almost trips when he tries to kick the Master.
Undead A7 charges Hawk.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Undead A7's charge: AC 19 for 3 damage
I think Hawk didn't apply Haste, so that misses.
Student A stands up, provoking from Fleir.
Fleir:
Fleir tears the student apart before he stands up. He turns into mist and flies north.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta is up next.

Vegeta powers up using 1 ki to attack
George: Yes, that is including haste, so yes, it does hit Hawk.
Vegeta:
Hernz: all that hit add up as one attack for DR
which I should overcome anyway
god those are shitty rolls
don't forget he's at -2 AC for charging
realtime 5/17 9:45 am
Hawk is a bit too slow to react and feels some of his essence fade away as the merchant punches him.
Vegeta hits Master Raiden 4 times, knocking away a piece of rotting flesh with each blow. Raiden doesn't seem to react, instead he focuses on retaining his composure.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Student B's perception 23
Student: Fool! You are right next to the invisible person.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Did the Undead roll 20s while fighting Fleir? 6 16
Besides ruffling her fur, more undead merchants seem to feed themselves to Fleir.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): (Even) Vegeta or (Odd) Ventshi? 1
Master Raiden regains his balance and focuses his attention to Venshi.
Master Raiden: Stunning Fist: AC 35 for 22
Ventshi: Fort Save: 12
Ventshi drops his flaming quarterstaff as the first blow hits him.
Master Raiden continues pummeling him.
Ventshi: Unarmed Strike AC 25 for 19
Master Raiden: Unarmed Strike AC 10 for 23
(GM) Chad S. (GM): The first 2 attacks should be 2 AC lower. Doesn't matter.
Master Raiden: You have much to learn, Ventshi.
Sensing weakness, Student D goes for the kill.
Student: Unarmed Strike: AC 12 for 15
Unarmed Strike: AC 27 for 15
Ventshi: Stabilization Check: 20
Too stunned to react, Ventshi collapses. The student uses its last attack on Vegeta.
Student: Unarmed Strike: AC 12 for 12
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Undead D11 vs Darius: AC 12 for 2 damage
Undead D10 attacks (1 is Nidri, 2 is Darius) 2
Undead D10 vs Darius: AC 16 for 4 damage
The Merchant lunches at Darius but his teeth scrape against Nidri's Shield of Faith.
Darius Kolphan: Phew! I already have one bruise, I don't need two! Thank you, dear.
Darius Kolphan winks at Nidri
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hawk, Fi and Nidri are up next.
Hawk will complete Round 2.
(From George): was that an energy drain or just negative energy type damage?
(To George): Good ol' energy drain. You have one negative level.
(From George): ok, I'll update the sheet and take Hawk's turn.

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Those are silver arrows right?
George: Should be.
Hawk Hubertins: A little help here? cough cough
Darius Kolphan: Apologies! I am...er surrounded here.

Round 3

Fi flies 30' and 15' up.
George: Hawk will probably invis next round if A7 isn't taken down.
Chris: Including the +2 from being invisible this time, and they are denied dex to AC.

Fi shoots Student C with a silver arrow.
Fi:
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Well, that's a hit.
And Fi removes the last C enemy.
Fi's silver arrow renders another student into a cloud of dust.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Let's go Nidri!
George: She's unlikely to be online until tonight.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Understood.
Cat: can i tell from here if ventshi is dead-dead or just...down?
Nidranisan: Ok, let's see what you're made of...
Cat: oh yeah. i'm so good at this.
Nidranisan casts Cure Critical on Undead D10!
Nidranisan: heal 29 HPs.
Cat: guess we'll try the attack again next round and see :|
clearly distracted trying to see if ventshi is dead...
and just in case for that:
Nidranisan:
Cat: i am SO DAMN GOOD AT THIS
Hernz: veg is so lucky ventshi was picked on....
Vegeta: you picked on the wrong one...
Meghan: Chris is eating the cupcake you got him, Chad
Chris: If you missed, I think the spell is still active.
Unless you were using it ranged touch instead of touch.
Cat: nope it was real touch, so i'm just holding it for next round.
and if someone is dying i can deliver it as actual healing too, if needed.
realtime 5/18 8:12 am
Nidri is too far away to determine if Ventshi is dying, stable, or dead. He is definitely unconscious.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): If you want to stay where you are and cast the spell, you need to make a DC 15 Fly check. Additionally you are provoking from Undead D10 and E4 for casting a spell.
So tell me how you want to handle this, Nidri
Also, I'm happy Chris is enjoying the B'day Cupcake.
So yeah, Nidri needs to make a DC 15 fly check if she wants to stay in place. She should also decide if she wants to cast defensively or risk provoking AoOs from 2 monsters.

(To GM): Nidri gets hit once for 5 damage and 1 negative level if she provokes.
George: Nidri has total concealment from one of her preps, so shouldn't be provoking.
And any attacks against her have a 50% miss chance.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Do you remember the name of that revelation? Because it does make you detectable but you get a 50% miss chance.
Okay, I think I found it
Shield of Darkness...
"Your opponents are automatically aware of which squares you occupy, preventing you from attempting Stealth checks using this concealment unless every square adjacent to you has an illumination level of darkness or lower. "
George: Yes, so you can't stealth past them, but it doesn't prevent the rest of the total concealment bonuses, which includes the 50% miss chance and lack of line of sight which prevents AOO.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hmm, yeah I guess so.
George: " You can’t attack an opponent that has total concealment, though you can attack into a square that you think he occupies."
And "You can’t execute an attack of opportunity against an opponent with total concealment, even if you know what square or squares the opponent occupies."
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Okay, I guess Nidri won't get an AoO for flying or casting. And she has a +15 to fly, so I'll just assume she hovers in place.

Darius holds his ground and slices away at one of the merchants with his silvered dagger.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Undead Merchant retaliates: AC 15 for 5 damage
Darius Kolphan: Parried! Sigurd did teach me a few things about fencing.
Student: Stunning Fist vs Fleir: AC 30 for 14 damage and a DC 15 Fort Save
Crit Confirm? vs Fleir: AC 26 for 14 damage
(GM) Chad S. (GM): AC 35? Holy moley
Student E circles around and manages to punch Fleir once right in the nose.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir needs to make a DC 15 Fort Save or be stunned for 1 round.
Claire and Fleir are up next.
Hernz: so he has to not roll a 1 lol
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Yeah. Some of you are tanks, some of you aren't lol
Hernz: well, AC wise, animal companions are built like insane tanks... like totoro... it's their role apparently lol
like they make you do that
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Yeah, Large Size, Natural AC bonuses and barding.
Fleir:
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Well, there was a chance Fleir could fail...
Chris: Yeah. Only a +12.

Fleir bites Student E!
Fleir:
Chris: Worst attack rolls :-P
Fleir shrugs off the punch, then bites the student and throws her down. Fleir bites her a second time as she lies prone.
Hernz: yeah, we've been bad with those... veg rolled 4, 3, 4, 9, and then damages were all 2 or 3s on d10s for the most part
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Time for Claire to deal with a target rich environment.
Meghan: 60 ft line for dragon's breath

The merchant at the far end manages to avoid most of it, by some miracle.
Ventshi lies face down in the dirt.
The undead fiend continues to lash out at Hawk.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): AC 21 for 2 damage
Hawk feels even more fatigued as the monster shoulder slams into him.
(To Hawk Hubertins): That's 2 negative levels so far. D'oh!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You're next, Vegeta
Hernz: heh, he certainly wasn't a great warrior...
Vegeta: heh, he certainly wasn't a great warrior...
Hernz: ok, going to punch this guy, and remaining punches 5 ft step on D11
Vegeta:
Hernz: much better rolls
Vegeta rethinks his compliments toward Ventshi as he pummels one student into a cloud of dust with a single punch, then turns an undead merchant into a pile of dust.
Hernz: that's a flurry not a pummel, but same attaks
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Did the merchants roll a 20? 7 15
Bolstered by the student's success, the two peddlers redouble their efforts in hitting Fleir. And failing.
One student flies around the battlefield towards Claire and Vegeta.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): The other undead attacks (2 = Nidri, 3 = Hawk) 1
Darius, hitting AC 8 for 5 damage
Hawk, Fi and Nidri are up next.
Hawk will end Round 3
Cat: gonna try again to tab that full-health one to my left.
with my good touch that's a bad touch to them.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Got it. Do you want to keep that 29 damage roll or roll again?
Cat: i assume keep it
looool.
buh bye.
i mean do i really crit?
Cat: compute how you will :)
pretty sure that one is no longer an issue...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): That does crit, but it died from the first attack anyway.
Hawk and Fi are up.
(From George): Ow.
(To George): No es bueno.
Cat: (i kinda figured...)
George: Ok, so now to figure out how to get out of the corner so Hawk doesn't get even more beat up.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Acrobatcics!
Cat: i made room?
George: Singing is a free action, so I guess Hawk can make a withdraw to get out of the way.
Cat: i don't think you can though.
there's no 5' that gets you out of threat
George: Right. Yeah, that's the issue.
Cat: you can 5' up next to me with the hope of leaving next round.
George: Nah, what I really need to do is move down and to the right... Oh, wait...
Cat: oh yeah.
chad, make more map! :)
George: Yeah, I don't see a good move here other than Hawk continuing to sing without provoking an AOO.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): OK, there isn't much room left here.
Okay, that's all you get.
Cat: that's enough for a withdraw
George: That's also enough for another 5' step and take another shot or two.
Cat: yup.
George: But Hawk's first move is a 5' step and invis while still singing.
Cat: doooo eeeeet

Hawk turns invisible and steps away from his attacker.

Round 4

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi is up next.

Fi attempts to hover.
Fi:
Chris: a 0? that's broken.
Fi:
Chris: weird.
Fi: 16
Chris: barely made it.
Fi will shoot silver arrows at the following targets until they drop in the following priority: Undead A7, Undead E4, Student B.
Fi:
Chris: All targets are denied dex to AC.
Meghan: is Ventshi good?
Hernz: you should get something like a constant detected alignment lol
Cat: or even just a constant detect good.
i'm sure they make adorable nerdy spectacles that do that...
fi probably just took out a bunch of stuff, nidri can go actually check on vetshi next.
or george mentioned hawk might go stab him with a cure stick.
George: Not sure about the "stab" part, but yes, if nobody else tries to stand Ventshi up, Hawk will walk over and use his wand of cure light on him.
realtime 5/20 3:11 pm
Fi destroys several creatures harassing Darius and Hawk, and nails the student far away.
Darius Kolphan: Well, my path is clear now!
Silver Dagger vs E4: AC 25 for 5 damage
Silver Dagger vs E4: AC 11 for 5 damage
Silver Dagger vs E4: AC 20 for 6 damage
And now, so is yours, Hawk...um...wherever you went.
Darius draws his dagger across the merchant until it is reduced to ash.
Student E remains prone, because the DM is a spiteful jerk and enemies are suicidal as long as they think they can kill the PCs (Fire Emblem Syndrome.)
Student: Student's Stunning Fist: AC 23 for 10 and DC 15 Fort Save
Student's Unarmed Strike: AC 15 for 14
Student's Unarmed Strike: AC 16 for 11
Welp, I tried.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir's turn to chomp away
Also, Claire and Vegeta should do something.
Ventshi isn't going to do much.
Hernz: I'll let claire go first if she's attacking
Cat: hmmm does burning hands straight up get the flying one?
Hernz: think it's only 15 ft
Cat: probably. flaming arc might do it. :)
Meghan: how many hit points do you guys think he's got?
... less than 9d6, probably
Claire is attacking Student B (30 feet up) with Burning Arc
Burning Arc uses remaining: 7
Meghan: Damage (primary): 9d6, 37
Damage (secondary): 4d6, 17
Damage (tertiary): 2d6, 5
Claire: Looks like he's...

Claire puts on sunglasses
Claire: toast.
Chris: Fleir will attack Student E until dead. Then target B8.
Fleir:
realtime 5/22 10:09 am
Student: Reflex Save 23
That should be 22, but it doesn't matter; he has evasion.
The student swerves out of the way to avoid getting toasted.
Meanwhile, Fleir grinds the fallen student into mist with two bites, then chomps on the merchant until it's reduced to dust.
Ventshi lies on the floor.
Vegeta watches the dust clear, then makes his move.
Claire: damn it

Vegeta charges Stud B
Vegeta:
...should have left while you were able to...
Chris: Can he reach it?
Cat: i don't think hernz read the "30 feet up" part...
Hernz: oops
I did not...
scratch that
Vegeta:
Hernz: wow, worst 4d6s ever
oh, and the touch attacks should be -12... still, 29/26 touch should hit
realtime 5/23 9:43 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Wow, those were some nice to hit rolls, but terrible damage rolls.
Vegeta blasts the flying student.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Student's fly check: 15
The student drops straight down to bash Vegeta's noggin.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Student's Stunning Fist: AC 23 for 14 and DC 15 Fort Save
Probably not?
One last d20 for the win! 6
The merchant fails to even touch Fleir, nevermind the armor.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hawk, Nidri and Fi are up.
Chris: Fi will save her silver arrows, and shoot with regular arrows this round.
Target 1 Student B, Target 2 Undead B2.
Fi:
Chris: Nope.
Since I've only got 1 attack this round, I will use silver.
Fi:
Chris: Denied Dex.
One arrow, one kill.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Okay, who wants to kill the last undead? You want to do it, Fleir?
Fleir:
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Thank you!
And with a quick bite, Fleir mashes the last undead merchant to dust.
Combat Over

The Order of the Red Viper stands alone

(GM) Chad S. (GM): You can make a heal check to check Ventshi's vital signs.
Fi: Now we get to chase the clouds?
Chris: Why are my skill checks broken?
Same thing with the fly evidently.
As Master Raiden and the Students were defeated, they turned into clouds of mist and flew north, through the large wooden doors.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): So what was Fi's heal check? Over 15?
Chris: It's not adding a d20 to my skill rolls, just the base. I was trying to figure out why, but I'm not seeing anything. I'll just roll myself.
Heal 25
The party notices something gently touching Ventshi's body.
Fi checks Ventshi and realizes he is unconscious and stable, still alive.

Fi casts Cure Light Wounds on Ventshi.
Fi: Healing: 12
Saving Throw: DC 14, Will half; Spell Resistance: Yes
First one is on me.
Someone else can do the rest.
Chris: Says the invisible voice.
The party hears Fi's voice as he casts magic and pushes Ventshi. The snake man coughs awake.
Ventshi: Ugh...
Ventshi stands up
Ventshi: I missed much.
Fi: They went that way.

Fi realizes that no one can see her point.
Fi: Through the north door.
Ventshi leans upon his staff
Ventshi: Yes, that is where we perform most of our meditation.
Hawk Hubertins: Ow. I don't geel so food.
Err, feel go sood.
seel fo good.

Hawk Hubertins pops visible.

Hawk Hubertins uses his wand of cure light wounds on Ventshi healing 3

Hawk Hubertins uses his wand of cure light wounds on Ventshi healing 8 hp

Hawk Hubertins uses his wand of cure light wounds on Ventshi healing 9 hp
George: Ok, so three charges for a total of 20 healing.
Darius Kolphan picks up his sword
Darius Kolphan: I think that merchant left quite a mark on me.
Vegeta: so do we go that way next?
Fi: I think so, didn't Hawk say they start regenerating in their coffin?
Cat: more healz needed?
i can also cast one restoration today.
but maybe we should go check for those coffins first.
George: Well, Hawk needs about 2 hp, but really it's the 2 negative levels that are the issue.

Fi casts Cure Light Wounds on Fleir.
Fi: Healing: 7
Saving Throw: DC 14, Will half; Spell Resistance: Yes

Fi casts Cure Light Wounds on Fleir.
Fi: Healing: 7
Saving Throw: DC 14, Will half; Spell Resistance: Yes
Cat: i think darius has some too?
main question is, does someone want a restoration before we go through the next door?
George: does it do 1 or all neg levels?
Cat: er. i think all temporary? http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/r/restoration/
realtime 5/24 8:43 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Restoration will restore all temporary negative levels, and one permanent level per week.
Hawk and Darius have 24 hours until they need to make a Fort Save and their negative levels become permanent if they fail the save.
George: How hard is the fort save?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You don't know that yet. Hmm, I feel like you made some Knowledge check on them though...
(To Hawk Hubertins): Fort DC 14
(From George): Right, so you had to go after the people who have the worst fort saves. ;)
Cat: technically i can cast one restoration now and cast another first thing tomorrow morning before 24 hrs are up.
to restore a permanent level i need a different scroll.
but i think we can avoid any perm levels.
who has the better will save? :)
George: I'm not sure, but I'd guess that Hawk might have a slightly better save than Darius, pathetic though it is.
Cat: yeah no offense but she's probably gonna fix his first :)
George: Shocked. I'm totally shocked that Nidri would go for Darius over Hawk. :P
Nidranisan takes out a scroll, casts on Darius, and puts the unconsumed scroll back away again.
Nidranisan casts Cure Moderate on Ventshi!
Nidranisan: heal 21 HPs.
Now, shall we go see where they all went?
Cat: chad: if casting on Hawk first thing tomorrow morning isn't going to stop him from needing the save, let me know.

Nidri reads from a scroll to help Darius. He's overjoyed.
Darius Kolphan: Like a warm summer breeze, you caress my skin and I feel like a new man.
Ah, thank you. Is what I'm saying.
Let us head north.
Ventshi picks up his staff and heads into the sacred chamber as you follow.
Master Raiden lies in a coffin. It lies in the inner quarters, surrounded by his students’ coffins. Melted wax covers the walls and floors as candles light up the room. Much effort was spent trying to reproduce the warmth and brightness of the sun.
Ventshi opens the coffin and Master Raiden’s red eyes glared at him. “You are my finest student, and fate spared you from the Masters wrath. The Order is now yours, to rebuild. But please, honor my final request: forgive Calofisteri for her assault on the monastery.”
Ventshi: With those words, Master Raiden closes his eyes and awaits peace. Ventshi remains quiet as he picks up an iron poker. He hands you a large wooden splinter, and directs you to the coffins of the students.
With those words, Master Raiden closes his eyes and awaits peace. Ventshi remains quiet as he picks up an iron poker. He hands you a large wooden splinter, and directs you to the coffins of the students.

Hawk Hubertins nods to Ventshi and does the deed without another word.

Fi also has some stakes she made in the forest.

Fi will do the same for one of the students.
Hernz: since I'm not sure if that counts as using a weapon which would violate his vows, veg will let the rest of you stake 'em :)
Nidranisan: I still have a fair amount of holy water in my stash here if we need it, though I have been saving it for a bit of a last resort.

realtime 5/26 9:54 am
Master Raiden and the order of the Red Vipers are at peace, save one. Ventshi silently struggles with his inner rage. With a single gesture, he ushers you out of the inner quarters before he uses his staff to knock down the candles. You hear his primal scream as the rugs and carpets are lit aflame.
You wait patiently as another eternity passes. Ventshi emerges from the inner quarters, his face stern and his figure composed. He holds a sash in his hands featuring an image of a red Viper.
“Who is this... Master? The one claimed Master Raiden’s soul, his will?” He hisses, his mouth full of disgust.
Hawk Hubertins: That is the one we seek. His name is Baat Draculon. His castle is further into these woods, and there we will end him. You are welcome to come with us and aid in bringing about that end.
Cat: but, y'know, maybe if you could stay standing this time...

realtime 5/27 10:30 am
Ventshi: The Order will begin a new, when I’m ready. Then, I will wear this sash. But for now, we will work together to purge this… Baat Daculon from this forest. Let us use this opportunity to rest and prepare.
Those are the only words he speaks of the rest of the night.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Make your preparations overnight and what you want to do in the morning.
George: Is it reasonable to assume we can fully heal overnight?
Nidranisan pulls out her scroll of restoration again first thing in the morning, and casts on Hawk.
Nidranisan carefully rolls it back up and replaces it in her bag.
Chris: Fi can cast Cure light about 10 more times.
Cat: yeah i'm pretty sure we just heal everyone up enough before we go to sleep.
so hps should all be fine in the morning, and hawk's the only other one with neg levels.
so we should be good.
(not really sure what else we have access to prep frankly.)
realtime 5/28 6:52pm

August 16, 1236 AD

The clouds give way to rain. You rested indoors, as Ventshi had directed you towards some of the guest rooms in the inner sanctum. This probably violates the order's rules but that doesn't matter; Ventshi's word is law.
Nidri uses her scroll on Hawk and he feels better immediately.
Ventshi: The merchants left more mundane tools. And the monastery has weapons that would befit one with my training.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Feel free to take any mundane items costing less than 30 gp.
Additionally take any weapons monks and unchained monks are proficient in.
You make a meal and prepare to leave the monastery, bound for Baat's castle.
The monastery fades away as the trees overtake your view. It feels like it should be morning, yet you haven't seen the sun...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I'll need a survival check or a K Geography check.
George:
Ignore that. Apparently the take 10 option got disabled.
So Hawk should get a 21.
Hawk Hubertins:
Cat:
do we have a guess how long it will take to reach Baat's castle?
Vegeta: hmm... all these weapons are useless... no wonder they lost so easily.
Hernz: that's an assist to Fi
Fi:
Chris: Back to our regularly scheduled dice rolling.
Meghan:
... i have a +1 to follow tracks? What?
Hernz: lol

realtime 5/30 10:20 am
Darius Kolphan: Knowledge (Geography) 13
Survival 21
Chris: ...
Ventshi: Survival 17
As the crow flies, you estimate about two more days of travel will lead you to the castle entrance. But Hawk is the first to realize the green fields make no sense.
The paths twist and bend on themselves, the dim light peeks through from every direction, and the wind changes direction on a whim.
The party takes a moment to eat lunch, sit down, and try to get their bearings.
You all manage to avoid natural hazards like unstable ground, rockslides, and poisonous plants.
Hernz: we almost screwed up the survival... good save with assists!
Fi almost fed us poison
You hear music in the distance, mostly wind, song and footsteps moving in perfect rhythm.
With the shape of the forest and a vague sense of direction, it's not perfectly clear where the origin is.
You wander into a clearing. Either the sky is overcast or you got here at dusk, but the area is dimly lit.
The withered, trampled grass surrounds fields of flowers and a flat stone mound. A few trees stand tall, providing some cover.
As you approach, three of the leaf-like humanoids and two mounds of plantlife erupt from the dirt.
One of the humanoids dances too and fro as it sings.

Greenie: The queen bids you welcome,
though she cannot say goodbye.
By her master's orders,
You all must die.
Those who enter the queen's realm
may never see the sun,
Greenie: To see the master's castle
you must defeat our queen bee!
Bee...sun...that didn't rhyme.
Nevermind that, it's now clobbering time!

Vegeta: I bet you're all talk
Darius Kolphan: If we're lucky.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Roll for Initiative
Vegeta:
Fi:
Fleir:
Chris: Any Knowledge check we can make to identify them?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hawk remembers the humanoids as the creatures he saw a few days ago, before reaching the monastery.
A K. Nature check can be used to id the shamblers.
Meghan:
Fi:
Chris: I suppose a 9 is better than I have been rolling.
Meghan: Bushroot's at it again?
Chris: lol
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Shambling Mounds are animated plant growth. Would you like to know about their attacks, resistances or special abilities? Choose 1.
Hawk Hubertins:
(From Hawk Hubertins): Remind me what I found out about the green guys? Fae, need cold iron to get through the DR... what else?
Hawk Hubertins:
(To Hawk Hubertins): With this talk about Fey, you are aware of their regenerative abilities and resistance to anything that isn't cold-forged iron. The weapons imply some kind of humanoids. Bacchae do like to party, but they are reclusive by nature.
(To Hawk Hubertins): You suspect they have some control over plants and the earth itself.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hawk, was that check for the fey or the shamblers?
George: Since Hawk remembered a bit about the fae, I think he's probably trying to figure out the shamblers.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Okay, you guys can just read the entry, then. I assume you and Fi will pick all 3 parts :http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/plants/shambling-mound
George: Lovely. Immune to electricity, which actually makes them stronger if you use it, and resist fire 10. Also, they'll try to grab you if they hit you.
Good grief Chad, you're loving these huge maps, huh? Am I missing anything? Looks like 3 scythers and 2 shamblers?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): That's all you see.
George: Ok. Well, I'm going to expect an ambush, since that's a pretty small group for the DM to throw... Err, a very light encounter for someone trying to stop us.
Do we get any prep time, or are we launching straight into combat?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): That's all you see.
I mean, you don't have time.

Battle! vs the Bloody Bachanals

Ventshi: Initiative 6
Darius Kolphan: Initiative 22
Aha! We must topple the queen, then.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Shambler's Init 20
It's free critical rolls day, I guess
Greenie's init 14
George: Cool, when do I get my free crit? ;)
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hopefully not on someone with deflect arrows
Cat:
awwwwwww yeah.
realtime 5/31,10:20 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): One last bit of info, due to Hawk's take 10 shenanigans: The flowers produce a sweet-smelling pollen that can fascinate many humanoids.

Round 1

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir is first to go.

Fleir moves up a bit.
Chris: Let's say she takes total defense.
Hawk Hubertins: These are the same fae I spotted before. They usually like to party. Cold iron, if you've got it. Careful: watch for an ambush!
Oh, and they can almost certainly control plants.
Darius Kolphan: Plants burn, yes? A shame they don't know of my mastery of the flame, or our dominance over fire!
Darius Kolphan snaps his fingers and jets of flame erupt from the ground. He pulls his bow.
Darius Kolphan: We are immune to fire, you fools! All opposition will burn before us!
The two shambling plants seem to ignore the fire as they approach the party.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Claire and Fi are up next.

Fi casts Ironskin on Fleir
Fi:
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Those flames sure look real, are you gonna just walk into them?
Darius Kolphan: Bluff check 17
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Then again it was a disastrous Bluff check...
Chris: Fi didn't walk into them. Fleir was already there when he cast them on top of her.
So clearly we are immune to fire, just like Darius said!
Hernz: queuing up veg, he'll likely wait for nidri if she's going to buff (prayer or whatever, then power up (barkskin), and maybe move up, but that might depend a little on 2Bs and BB actions
Meghan: should I buff someone?
mage armor, cat's grace, eagle's splendor, fly, greater invis...
George: We're already spread out a little bit for haste. Ventshi will definitely not be in unless Hawk waits for him to gather up.
Chris: Fi certainly would take a greater invis if you are offering.
Hernz: he's just an npc ;)
and yeah, if you got extra spells to burn, invis would help veg as well, but he's likely to jump into the middle of stuff after first round, so he won't stick around long
Cat: mmm i could drop a prayer before we all spread out
but after that i gotta armor up.
we'll see what happens by the time it gets around to my slow ass.
Hernz: at least you have soft cover from me and darius if they choose to plunk you
Meghan:
invisible monk!
Chris: For what it's worth, we weren't all within haste formation from the start.
realtime 6/1 10:21a
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fireball or haste, pick your poison!
I added the box to track both in the war right corner of the map; it's an experiment now, so let's see if it works out.
Fleir's fur turns hard as steel as Fi enhances her. Claire's magic turns Vegeta invisible. His taunts don't mean much, but his fists do most of the talking anyway.
One of the plant creatures casts some magic, then runs behind a tree for cover.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Reminder: this entire battlefield uses lowlight vision.
Another plant creature turns into a mass of stone and grass, held together by vines.
The fey who greeted you begins to sing again as it casts magic.
Greenie: Unfortunately for you,
You face more than three.
Rise my allies;
They must not roam free!
And with that, it takes cover behind one of the rocks.
Hawk's intuition is proven correct as several more Fay erupt about 150 feet away.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): D's init 12
A's Init 13
C's Init 17
E's Init 4
F's Init 21
G Init 9
(GM) Chad S. (GM): H Init 11
Okay, some of the enemy just arrived, they can't do anything yet.
Vegeta, Hawk and Nidri are up next.
Chris: GAH! I just realized, Fi has a +3 weapon! It automatically bypasses silver and cold iron DR!
Chad, What do you mean by Low Light Vision? Do you mean that the field is Dim Light? If it is, does it make sense for us to have been using light spells while walking through here?
If so, Fi will have one up.
Just for shits and giggles, I put up an aura around Fi which shows the areas for normal light vision. The brighter one is for nomal folk, and the dimmer one is for Low Light Vision races.
George: So, haste and bardsong? Haste will get everyone except Nidri and Ventshi.
Hernz: can never go wrong with haste and bardsong
note, veg has been using the googles of night we found a long time ago while we wait to decide what to do with them
Vegeta: hehehe, nifty little trick Claire... let's have some fun
Hernz: how do we drag those cones/circles around?
I'll do my action, but veg will wait till after hawk does things
Cat: will you wait for prayer too?
i might be able to run up and get you.
Hernz: he'll wait, forgot about that... so veg delays
Cat:
Hernz: granted that waits until all those guys go
Cat: they don't go this round.
chad said we're up because the new ones aren't going immediately.
Hernz: ah right
Cat: but if i get shanked this round.... ;)
Hernz: lol

Vegeta runs up and shoots a line of acid across at the two shambling mounds
Vegeta:

Hawk Hubertins is activating his Bard ability, Inspire Courage +2
Hawk Hubertins: +2 morale bonus to attack, damage, and save vs fear & charm
Inspire Courage +2 uses remaining: 34
Note: Effect lasts for 2 rounds after song has ended.
George: Bardsong is free because of casting.
Cat: so the haste misses....me and ventshi was it?
George: Yup.
realtime 6/2 9:03 am
The fight is on, and the party quickly prepares for combat.
Vegeta takes the initiative and burns the plants scrambling towards him with a stream of acid.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Reflex Saves 20 25
Both shrubs bend and twist out of the way, evading most of the spray.
Ventshi hisses.
Ventshi: Tell the queen we are coming for her! Nothing will stand in our way of purging that evil.
Ventshi's scales shine as he runs through the tip of the flower bed.

Round 2

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir is up.
Chris: Can I assume that since Fleir is already in the fire, she knows that it doesn't hurt her?
Darius kinda dropped it on her.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Yeah, it doesn't burn.

Fleir advances and attacks Shambler A.
Chris: AoO?
Fleir:
Chris: Damage is wrong.
Fleir: Damage 23
(GM) Chad S. (GM): The AoO: AC 25 for 15 and grab vs CMD 22
Fleir walks through the flames and bites into the plant. Its tendrils fail to damage her.
Darius keeps his bow trained, but he seems focused on keeping the flames burning.
Shambler A continues to attack Fleir.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): AC 27 for 16 and grab vs CMD 24
AC 31 for 13 and grab vs CMD 23
Crit? AC 27 for 9 and grab vs CMD 29
I don't think that will beat Fleir's CMD
The plant slams into Fleir, bruising her. She snaps and bites one of the vines trying to entangle her.
Still ignoring the flames, the other shambler shuffles after Ventshi.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): AC 18 for 11 and grab vs CMD 17
AC 28 for 12 and grab vs CMD 35
Ventshi finds himself wrapped in vines as the shambler focuses its attention on him. It deals an extra 14 damage as it constricts!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Claire is up next.
(From Hernz): so one failed the save, the other didn't... did one take half and the other... none? if both evaded most of the spray...
Chris: Chad... stop hogging all the 20s.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): If it helps, one of the Shamblers failed the reflex save against Vegeta's Galic Gun.
Hernz: lol
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I thought it succeeded because it had a 20 total
Hernz: so one took full, one half?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Yes
Meghan: I think I'm going to activate my flying ability
speed of 60 ft, good maneuverability.
what's haste do to that?
and can I still move after? I think I can...
Hernz: +30 to your fly, and yes, you can move
Meghan: so I'm probably, like, 30' up
realtime 6/3 2:30 pm
Claire soars above the ground with wings of pure white.
Three more leafy humanoids appear next to the western flower patch. They wield a short sword, scythe and shortbow respectively.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi is up next.
Fi: Other bow users. Probably best that I armor up too.

Fi casts Ironskin on Fi
Fi:
realtime 6/4 1.17 pm
Fi prepares for danger.
The Earth Elemental walks up to the flame wall and inspects it, closely.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Will Save 24
Greenie: These flames aren't real!
Our wills, they hope to steal!
Ignore your eyes, disbelieve your ear!
From this... illusion, you have nothing to fear!
Darius Kolphan: Hmpf. Spoilsport.
Spotting a clear target, the apparent leader of the pack fires an arrow at Claire before scooting away, still singing.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Bow vs Claire (1 range increment): AC 20 for 15 damage
I'm going to assume Claire always has her Mage Armor on.
It overcompensates and the arrow bounces off her magical armor.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): From afar, you hear the wind suddenly pick up. You also hear another person sing in perfect harmony with your attackers.
Vegeta and Hawk are next.
Vegeta:
(From Vegeta): something along the lines of "out of nowhere, Shambler B blows up Fist of the North star style" works lol :)
Hernz: though technically, veg held till Nidri's turn for the prayer... veg should be at 6.02
(watch, whatshisname now be free but fail a will save and thinks he's burning to death lol)

Hawk Hubertins is activating his Bard ability, Inspire Courage +2
Hawk Hubertins: +2 morale bonus to attack, damage, and save vs fear & charm
Inspire Courage +2 uses remaining: 34
Note: Effect lasts for 2 rounds after song has ended.

Hawk Hubertins casts Abundant Ammunition on Fi's quiver!
Hawk Hubertins: School: N/A; Level 1

Out of nowhere, the Shambler seems to implode, dropping Ventshi.
Hawk realizes Fi needs lots and lots of arrows, so he blesses the elf with a never ending supply of arrows.
George: Target rich environment.
The wind continues to pick up.
Lots of magic is cast in the distance.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Nidri is next.
Chris: Hernz, don't forget that it is dim light outside of Fi's inner light radius (miss chance)
Hernz: veg has teh goggles of night... that we found... let's me see in darkness

Cat is activating her Oracle ability, Demonhide
Cat: Uses remaining: 8
new strategy: focus on taking out entire initiative groups that go between party members, so combats go faster ;)
Hernz: chads fault for rolling them all over the place! lol
realtime 6/6 9:09 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): It just feels weird to have the entire enemy army move in perfect unison, haha step
Ventshi stands up, runs behind a tree and pulls out a wand.
Ventshi: Bah, this has not been my day...
Three more leafy fighters emerge from the eastern flower bed.

Round 3

Fleir: Fleir's turn.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Uh, I typed that.
Fleir can't type that, she lacks opposable thumbs. And language.
Chris: Ah. Cool beans. Forgot about the goggles.
Hmm... Shambler A only hits on a 20, but knowing Chad it will hit again anyway. Green Scythe is probably the bigger threat.

Fleir attacks Green Scythe B.
Fleir:
Hernz: what a shitty roll on the crit confirm...
but at least with a 39, that will hopefully take it prone
Despite some resistance, Fleir bites through the mossy leg, knocking it prone. She bites it again while it's down.
Darius realizes they aren't falling for the flames and instead targets his magic against the western trio hiding behind the tree.
Darius Kolphan: Your skin is orange.
And...hmm... ah, what rhymes with orange?
Dammit, I had something good planned. No matter! Confusion!
Greenie: Will Saves: 19 15 14
Hernz: man, that is one heck of a spell... nice
Darius Kolphan: Well, I hope that made up for my poor rhyming...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta, give me a perception check.

Greenie: Concealment (low is a miss) 43
Catching nothing but air.
Greenie: Hmpf! Something's here, I can smell it!
Hernz: HEY! Veg didn't take a vow of smelly hobo!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): lol, PCs force me into an ambiguous situation via invisibility
Shamblers be shambling... 14 3

Claire bathes the Shambling Mound in frost. It barely survives the blast. Meanwhile, the rocky guardian manages to roll out of the way as it is chilled.
One of the sword-wielding creatures sinks into the earth, like a swimmer diving into a pool of water.
Greenie: Scythe C's Confusion 67

Bowman C's Confusion 86
Traitor! Enemy of the queen! I'll strike you down where you staaaand!
Bow vs Scythe C: AC 21 for 13 damage
Fort Save vs poison: 23
The two plant-like creatures at the western flower bed begin infighting, confused by Darius's magic.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi is up.
Chris: Hmm... There are two sword users just standing around over there. Better take them down.
Fi will attack Green Sword F followed by FF if F falls. Using cold iron arrows.
Fi:
With two arrows, Fi dispatches one of the foes surrounding... probably Vegeta. A third one nails the last swordsman.
Green Scythe B, the earth elemental, sinks beneath the earth.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi, Nidri, Hawk and Darius: You can make a perception check.
George:
Fi:
The earth elemental is maybe five feet underground. Fi thinks it's about 15 feet east of him.
Green Scythe BB waits patiently.
Green Bow B continues to sing about your doom and demise.
Chris: I take it that the Earth Elemental burrowing counts as a withdraw?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Yeah, it's withdrawing.
An air elemental flies into view.
From the edge of your vision, you hear another bowman begin to sing in perfect unison.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta and Hawk are next.
George: Until someone needs healing, I think Hawk is basically done and will just sit in the back and sing.
Vegeta: This one is all yours ventshi

Vegeta charges at green scythe BB
Vegeta:
Boo!
Hernz: so this stone thing... is it... high? it is rough terrain, what is it?
I mean the area marked as "Stone"
Cat:
putting up my concealment.
Hernz: do you want to wait until D H and G go?
u know, in case one of those pesky 20s shows up on us :)
George: Hawk sings and delays.

(GM) Chad S. (GM): The stone is ground level.
Hmm, Vegeta can't fail the Will save, so...
Vegeta feels an urge not to punch this thing in the face... but naaaaah. Vegeta breaks through and clobbers it.
Hawk keeps his wits about him and waits carefully.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): If you want to drop delay before your next turn Hawk, just indicate your action.
Vegeta spots one of the archers flying through the air. More importantly, he sees a whirlwind approaching him!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta needs to make 2 Reflex Saves, DC 19. The first one to evade 10 bludgeoning damage. The second one to avoid getting lifted 10 feet up, up and away.
Nidri is certain that something is tunneling underground, about 10 feet east of her and maybe 5 feet underground.
She wraps herself in pure darkness. Kind of obvious in the light she's exposed to.
Ventshi grins and twists as he crouches, like a cobra coiling up. He faces the swordsman and leaps twenty feet across, his fists and feet bursting into flame.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Dragon Style, Draconic Fury Unarmed Strike: AC 23 for 11 bludgeoning and 1 fire damage. Stunning Fist DC 17. Miss Chance (20 or lower is a miss) 94
Stun Saving Throw: 13
It's stunned...
Dragon Style, Draconic Fury Unarmed Strike: AC 10 for 7 bludgeoning and 4 fire.
Dragon Style, Draconic Fury Unarmed Strike: AC 18 for 10 bludgeoning and 1 fire.
Forgot to look at party buffs...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Ventshi draws upon his inner ki for an extra strike.
AC 28 for 12 bludgeoning and 3 fire damage.
Ventshi leaps in with a flurry of flaming strikes that leave the swordsman weakened and defenseless.
You hear more singing from the east.

Round 4

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir is up next.

Fleir doesn't like this plant.
Fleir:
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Well the plant doesn't like you either. It dies in the first bite.
So maybe you want to move?

Fleir knows there are threats nearby, but doesn't see any she can deal with. She moves to the side of Fi with incoming targets.
Darius Kolphan: Fi, I have full confidence in your abilities. Also, I am in no mood to advance blindly.
Darius Kolphan casts Heroism upon Fi.
Fi: Why, thank you!
Darius Kolphan: Just do not let it go to waste, yes?
Chris: How many temporary HP does he give?
Oops wrong one. nm
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Heroism? 0.
Oh, you know that.
One of the swordsmen continues to waver, to stunned to do much...
Chris: Annoying part of them sticking spells back to back in the text.
Another one emerges, ready to lash out at Ventshi.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Ventshi's Perception 19 vs Greenie's Stealth 20
Ventshi is caught off guard and is flatfooted.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): 11 for 15 and 8 sneak attack damage
The creature's sword scrapes against Ventshi's scales.
Ventshi: More...I see.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Claire is next.
Meghan: are the green scythes tough?
Chris: they keep transforming into elementals.
The flying one near you is now an air elemental.
Meghan: what's good against air elementals?
Chris: I think just use whatever. Burn it with fire.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You can make a k. planes check to recall Air Elemental weaknesses.
Remember you need a DC 15 Fly check if you want to hover in place.
Chris: Is there something that we should roll to determine what happens to the DR of these guys when they change to elemental form? Not sure if it makes sense to keep using Cold Iron arrows when they shift.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hmmm.... that's more of a Spellcraft check, if you're assuming they are using a spell-like ability.
Fi: Hey guys? Should I keep using Cold Iron arrows if they've shifted?
Darius Kolphan: Is that like... magic of some kind? Like a spell? Sheela hates transmutation- she says it messes with her hair.
Meghan:
I have no fucking clue about air elementals, and I actually have kplanes
... somehow based off of cha
why
Can I answer Fi's question?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Nope, you're not sure on the details.

Burning arc it is. I don't think he's close enough for me to hit anyone else with it
Greenie: Reflex Save: 13
Claire burns the flying air elemental.
Darius Kolphan: Spellcraft check 11
Well, I'm not useful here.
Green Scythe C counterattacks!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): AC 20 for 13 damage
AC 12 for 14 damage
Green Bow C steps back and fires back.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): AC 12 for 14 damage

Nidranisan: (GM) Yeaaaah they still resist anything that isn't cold iron.
Fi: K. Thanks.
Chris: Fi's target order: G. Scythe A, G. Sword FFF, G. Sword FF.
Cold Iron arrows.
Fi:
Chris: Why is the damage so wrong?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Your damage bonus is a 6? I was gonna ask why those are so low.
You beat Green Scythe A already, but tell me your final damage numbers.
Well, the last two shots hit Green Sword FFF
Chris: I'm just going to re-roll these manually. I still had the die size wrong, and the base damage addition is too small.
I have a +3 from buffs, and a +4 from deadly aim... +3 magic, +3 strength.
Fi: 17, 17, 18, 14
Chris: better.
Fi: http://tinyurl.com/PF-Thread
Chris: I click on a link in the sheet, and it does that...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Uhh....
Chris: Trying to figure out how to get Rng Dmg buffs to actually apply.
The melee damage buffs for Fleir are working fine... They just can't seem to keep these sheets working right.
As expected, the earth elemental erupts... next to Fleir.
Realizing it probably won't break through Fleir's iron-thick hide, the elemental tries to grapple her.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Huh, that provokes.
Fleir:
Chris: Out for the evening.
Cat:
oh sure y'all already rolled. i guess i should read further before i click lol.
i'm not bringing my laptop with me this weekend.
unless someone is dying, assuming i get my wings on next turn, then fly low (i hear signs of wind effects coming) whenever i need the speed and go around saving whoever needs healing.
i shouldn't provoke AOOs with the darkness up so i can move pretty freely.
Cat: if darius is in trouble and shield of faith helps i can do that on a round no one needs healing.
Hernz: techincally a 1 fails a will save... any save... it's like AC
Vegeta:
Hernz: fly away!!!
Vegeta: you think you got ME? The prince of all sayans? Fool, you saved me the trouble of coming for you!
realtime 6/9 8:17 am
Vegeta avoids most of the debris, but he is swept off his feet and held aloft.
Meanwhile, Fleir bites into the big stone thing as it tries to grab her.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Grapple check: vs CMD 31
Hernz: he's gonna hug himself a big fuzzy teddy wolf
The elemental holds onto Fleir.
Green Bow A, singing along with its companions, fires an arrow at Claire.
Greenie: AC: 19 for 15 damage
The arrow scratches her magical armor and is deflected harmlessly.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta takes a -4 Dex and -2 attack roll penalty while stuck in the not-ice tornado
He and Hawk are up next.
Vegeta:
Hernz: does it stun??
I think elementals don't right?
lousy damage rolls again
(GM) Chad S. (GM): No stun for you, but you might kill it, so...
Nope, not quite!
Vegeta isn't sure how punching a tornado works, but he's Sayan enough to make it happen!

Fi:
Chris: I'm rolling crap again.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): lol.
Hernz: I rolled 9 damage on 4d10s.... you're ahead of me at least lol
Chris: I'm pretty sure I haven't rolled over a 10 on a skill check since we left Norrison.
Hernz: lol
Chris: Hmm... No I did ok on a few fly rolls.
Hernz: just a thought... can TI/GI be targeted on someone Hawk can't see?
Chris: No
They are only 25'+5'/2 range anyway.
George: Also, TI is useless since we figured out the bonuses don't stack with bardsong, and GI only has a 50% chance of a bonus.
Hernz: yup, was more of a "can you target an invis person" thing
George: Since Hawk couldn't see them miss the attack, I think the answer is probably no.
Chris: "Some spells have a target or targets. You cast these spells on creatures or objects, as defined by the spell itself. You must be able to see or touch the target, and you must specifically choose that target."
Hernz: BOOM! solved! thanks, I was lazy
George: Ok, Hawk sings and casts invis. Casting gives a free round of Bardsong.

Hawk Hubertins is activating his Bard ability, Inspire Courage +2
Hawk Hubertins: +2 morale bonus to attack, damage, and save vs fear & charm
Inspire Courage +2 uses remaining: 33
Note: Effect lasts for 2 rounds after song has ended.

Hawk turns invisible.
Vegeta takes another 8 damage as the air elemental takes him up, up and away.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta is 60 feet above the ground.
Vegeta spots another creature erupt from the stony surface, only to transform into another air elemental.
A flying archer begins singing and flies into the dim light.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Nidri is next.
Hernz: chad is doing this on purpose to show me why I shuld have gotten slow fall... lol
Didn't Nidri go with the wings?
Cat: yes, nidri went with the wings.
hmm i might owe another perception check
just in case lol.
Hernz: you see Fi next to you
realtime 6/13 9:09 am
Nidri sprouts her wings and stays in place. With all the combat going on around her, she doesn't really notice anything.
Green Sword FF regains its senses right before Ventshi tries to finish it off.
But first, he tries to beat the other swordsman.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Dragon Style, Draconic Fury Unarmed Strike: AC 16 for 15 bludgeoning and 5 fire damage.
Dragon Style, Draconic Fury Unarmed Strike: AC 15 for 18 bludgeoning and 4 fire.
Dragon Style, Draconic Fury Unarmed Strike: AC 25 for 12 bludgeoning and 5 fire.
Jeez these rolls were bad
Spending 1 ki point for an extra attack
Dragon Style, Draconic Fury Unarmed Strike: AC 21 for 11 bludgeoning and 4 fire.
Ventshi: Hmpf! I have these two... how many more are there? Vegeta!
Vegeta: I got my hands full here [yells a voice from somewhere]
Another flying, singing bowman approaches from the edge, and fires an arrow at Ventshi.
Greenie: Bow: AC 36 for 13 damage
Crit? AC 29 for 20 damage
Hernz: aaaaand chad kills off another npc
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I love killing off my npcs, apparently
This is a x3 crit, btw
Hernz: isnt bow damage x3? lol
(GM) Chad S. (GM): With an extra 14 damage
Hernz: glad that wasnt aimed at us
Ventshi clears away his enemies, and calls out to Vegeta. He sees something at the corner of his vision, but he too slow to react. An arrow pierces his throat as he tries to maintain his balance. It is too late, and he collapses onto the packed dirt.
Another archer approaches on foot.

Round 5

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir is grappled! What will she do?
Hernz: I say just bite and kill it... best way to escape grapple lol
Chris: Why would you try to grapple something with natural weapons? Oh well.
Fleir:
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Better than trying to hit its AC
Then again, that's when the elemental rolled a 20 again
With her first bite, Fleir is free. The elemental stones crumble, leaving a wilted flowery humanoid behind.
Hernz: so fleir can move?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Yeah
Chris: We know that the flowers are a problem to stand in right?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hawk mentioned that these creatures are attuned to stones and plants, but you haven't seen any explicit danger.
No man eating plants have emerged, for example.
Chris: There was something about fascination of humanoids.
Does that imply Fleir is ok or not?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): She's not a humanoid, so she should be OK?
Chris: Ok. If that is what Hawk said, I'll send her in :-P
With her hasted canine speed, Fleir runs into the flower field, ready to chomp the archer.
Darius hold his bow ready for the first enemy to approach.
The fiery walls extinguish.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Group F is dead, so Claire is next.
George: Ok, I guess Hawk's next action will be to see if Ventshi is still alive and if so, heal him. Queue that up.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): It's on the queue!
Chris: Metroid Prime 4 Confirmed!
Hernz: time to buy me a new system just for it!!!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Xenoblade 2 is still slated for Holiday 2017
RIP my wallet this October
"Huh, Mario Odyssey, he has a hat I guess HE CAN POSSESS ENEMIES? DAY 1 purchase!"
PS That's Mayor Pauline of New Donk City singing the theme song
Chris: Amazing.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): The possession mechanic is called Cap-ture
...
Hernz: genius
(GM) Chad S. (GM): There is also a 2D Metroid on the 3DS. Metroid: Samus Returns
Chris: 3D...2D (side scrolling with 3d graphics)
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Oh, it's a remake of Metroid 2
And it has a melee counterattack oh boy!
Hernz: I guess I'll queue up my action since I think I only have one option
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Uh, punchy punch the tornado?
Hernz: ... and fall down go boom yes lol
Vegeta:
Hernz: of course, NOW I roll all the good damage that would have killed it last round...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): lololol
Want to make a Acrobatics check so you can reduce falling damage?
Hernz: I think that's only if you drop from a jump... don't think it applies here
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Ah, yes
Vegeta: NOW I'M MAD!! TAKE THAT!!!! AAARRGGGH!!
Hernz: have fun at -80hp mofo
Meghan: we're killing all the things, right?
I've got to take Maverick to the vet but then i'll be back
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Damn, they're gonna show Xenoblade 2 combat on stream but I have a meeting in 5 minutes, yeesh
Meeting's cancelled, yeah yeah!
Chris: haha. I'm watching as well... shh
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I was worried there wouldn't be party members but phew
I need 3-4 party member RPGs
They asked what's the meaning of the word "Xeno" in relation to the series.
The conflict and resolution of meeting different people, cool.
Meghan:
Claire is attacking Green Bow C with Burning Arc
Burning Arc uses remaining: 6
Damage (primary): 9d6, 31
Damage (secondary): 4d6, 18
Meghan: Damage (tertiary): 2d6, 7
second one is right next to him
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Note that those two targets are confused and will automatically attack you next turn if they are still confused.
Hernz: yeah, I just finished dark cloud 2... single person done boring... ugh
Meghan: well, damn
that's what that means?
meh, that's fine. only one of them has a ranged weapon, right?
and no one else is close enough to another badguy to let me hit them twice
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Reflex Saves 24 26
Claire ignites the air around the two squabbling foes. The dive to the side to evade most of the flame.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Scythe C's confusion 47
Scythe C babbles incoherently.

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Stealth 30 vs Perception 22
A plant creature emerges, sword drawn at Darius!
Greenie: Sword vs Flatfooted AC: 18 for 8 damage and 7 sneak attack damage
The sword slices across Darius's arm, and he winces in pain. Darius realizes he can't take a readied shot, as he would be wide open and vulnerable.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi's turn.
Fi: Hey! Fuck off!

Fi attacks Green Sword C (something, the one on Darius).
Chris: Cold Iron arrows.
Fi:
Chris: Any leftover will be retargeted to Green Bow EE for 1 less damage.
realtime 6/14 4.04 pm
Darius goes stiff as a board when Fi fires multiple arrows over his shoulder.
With 3 arrows, Fi defeats the creature who attacked Fi.
The final arrow sails over Fleir, striking the creature engaged in combat with Fleir.
The original singing leafy creature flies into range and fires a single arrow at Fi.
It holds its arrow back, and instead suggests something to Fi.
Greenie: Your archery is incredible!
Your arrows are cruel.
Drop your bow
and approach me, you fool!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi, make a Will Save, DC 16 to resist the suggestion.
While Fi deals with the compulsion, Green Bow A fires at Claire, a clear target (I'm so funny)
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Shortbow hits AC 16 for 16 damage
Bouncing off her armor again. Man, this magic is great!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta is up next.
Hawk is also up, but he may want to wait for Fi's Will Save.
Fi:
Chris: Yay Heroism.
Hernz: I had queued my action... destroyed the thing and then you have to do the 6d6 falling damage
and hawkk queued his to go check/heal ventshi
Fi holds his ground and ignores the tactically stupid idea.

Darius's Perception 13

Hernz: NICE!!!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Nidri, you want to roll a Perception check?
Hernz: lol
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You need to beat a Stealth check of 25
Hernz: doesn't she have like a +2? lol
(GM) Chad S. (GM): yuuuup, a +2
It's all up to Hawk.
Hawk? 21
Nope
One more swordsman emerges, slashing at Fi.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): FF AC: 27 for 7 slashing and 14 sneak attack damage
It cuts right into her.
Meanwhile, Vegeta destroys the elemental with his fist and falls 60 feet, taking 24 damage when he thuds into the stone.
Hernz: THANKS... now you roll high...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I assume you stand up from prone?
Hernz: do I get another action if I full attacked?
dont think so
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Oh yeah, that was full.
Vegeta faceplants into the stone.
uh, like a true Sayan would!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Okay, now it's Hawk turn.
Hernz: he said he'd run to check on ventshi and see if he could be healed
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Right, he said that before Darius and Fi got hit.
Hernz: good point
realtime 6/16 9.09 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Well I was busy yesterday and no updates from Hawk, so...

Hernz: a 4!! LOL, you're fired
Hawk maintains his magical music and weaves a healing spell into Ventshi. The arrow wound around his neck closes slightly and you see him cough awake.
Ventshi: Damn... my master will be quite angry.
Ah, would be...
The air elemental goes to pick on the prone Vegeta.
Hernz: they see invis?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): DAMMIT SAMPSON
Hernz: I figured the large one at least I was in it's path or sometihng gave away my rough location when I killed the other guy
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You fired a lazer beam, so it could guess on your location
Hernz: yup
It changes its mind and goes after the prone Ventshi instead.
Greenie: Slam 29 for 9 damage
Crit? Slam 17 for 10 damage
The Air elemental descends upon Ventshi and crushes his chest with a brutal slam. Ventshi gasps and passes out.
Hernz: you and your crits...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Crit confirmed, as well
Hernz: face palm
(GM) Chad S. (GM): 1=Darius, 2=Fi 3
Another bowman flies into range and shoots at the black blot that is Nidri.

Greenie: Green Bow: AC 18 for 19 damage
(GM) Chad S. (GM): AC 19 baby
The arrow glances off her demonhide.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Nidri is up next.
George: Ok, this time I'm going to use the wand of cure light on Ventshi so he doesn't bleed out, but also hopefully won't wake up.

Cat casts Cure Moderate on Darius!
Cat: heal 16 HPs.
i mean, nidri, but y'all knew what i meant.
realtime 6/17 9:42 pm
Darius Kolphan: Ah! Thank you, Nidri. Wherever your arms are.
Ventshi continues to lie on the ground.
Greenie: Green Bow EE fires at Fleir, rolling a 20! 16

Green Bow E fires at Fleir, hitting AC 25 for 14
Two more arrows bounce off of Fleir's iron hide.

Fleir decides to take out the one who hurt Fi.
Fleir:
Chris: and rolls a 3...
realtime 6/18 4:25 pm
Fleir runs out of the grass to defend her friend and misses.
Darius takes a step back and casts more magic at the two flying bowmen.
Darius Kolphan: I feel like we are in a shooting gallery, and we are the targets. Perhaps we should... slow things down.
Greenie: Green Bow B's Will Save: 37 30
Chris: ...
Darius Kolphan: Well then...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Oh, those are 4 too high. Uh, doesn't matter though
Darius Kolphan: I'll stick to my bow, then.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Claire is up next
Chris: Anyone got a spell that will steal their 20's and give them to us?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): My dice are rolling hot this game.
Cat: alas, no.
Hernz: so since veg is prone right now, my likely action unless anything gets within 60 feet of me (unlikely since I'm invis) is to just use my standard to move straight down 60 feet.... queue that up

The other one with a bow continues to babble behind a tree incoherently.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi is up next. Make it count!
Vegeta will stand up and run 60 ft South on his turn unless interrupted.
Fi: Where the hell do these things keep coming from? Go away!
Chris: priority GS-A, GB-D, GB-EE
Add +2 to hit and +1 damage to attacks against GS-A.
Cold Iron arrows. (This better end soon)
Fi:
Cat: queue me up to cure moderate on fi unless someone else is in worse shape by the time my turn rolls around.
realtime 6/20 8.58 am
Fi steps back and unloads four arrows into his assailant.
Green Bow B continues to fly and tries to shoot Claire.
Greenie: Shortbow: 31 for 16 damage
As the arrow hits, Claire can see some kind of liquid seep into her wound. Poison?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Claire, I need a DC 18 Fort Save vs Poison, or you take 1 Wisdom and [[1d2] Strength damage
1 Strength Damage
With a clear shot, Green Bow A takes aim at Darius.
Greenie: AC 20 for 9 damage
Darius Kolphan: Fort Save: 16
Through the miracle of Nidri's prayer, Darius resists the poison!
Green Sword A tries to reposition Fleir before retreating.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Reposition vs CMD 30
Greenie: Acrobatics vs CMD 23
Failing to move Fleir away, Green Sword A clumsily backflips towards the flowerbed.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): This provokes an AoO from Fleir, I believe.
Vegeta stands up and moves 60 feet south, where the action is!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hawk had a queued action, but I'll brb. Claire needs to make a Fort Save DC 18 vs Poison or take 1 Wis and 1 Str damage. Fleir has an AoO she can take vs Green Sword A.
Fleir:
Chris: At least she hit. But the trip got another 3 :-P
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hmmm, Fleir can't fail that trip attempt, then
Fleir bites the leafy creature midflip and flings it down, prone
(To Hawk Hubertins): Your pull out the wand of cure light wounds and try to apply it to Ventshi. The wand replies "Invalid Target" and fails.
Hawk tries to heal Ventshi.
Green Scythe DD tries to charge Fleir, running past invisible Hawk.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): 20? 12
Greenie: 4 targets. Which one shall I pierce?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): 1 = Darius, 2 = Nidri, 3 = Fi 4
Greenie: That loud distracting female wolf, of course!
AC 21 for 17 damage
Nidri decides Fi is in the worst shape of the group and decides to heal her.

(GM) Chad S. (GM) casts Cure Moderate Wounds!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi - heal 17 HPs.
Ventshi is still down.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Be back in a bit. Claire still has to deal with poison. I wrote the note next to her character.
Chris: Hmm.. That seems wrong. It appears that the character sheet has changed again and is silently adding CMB bonuses and Melee bonuses together without showing it in the buff column. I think I've fixed it. That Trip attempt should be 23 instead of 27.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Oh, that was important.
The leafy creature manages to land after Fleir's bite and keeps backflipping away.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi, give me a Perception check on you and Fleir.
Chris: Come on dice!
Fi:

Because I rolled a 9 on the stealth check
Despite the screams, the growls, and the singing, Fi hears something right behind him. No, that's not right, it's behind and underground. She turns around in time to see a leafy creature emerge, with sword in hand!
Bolstered by the singing, the leafy creature swings at a vital part, only to realize Fi is on guard.
Greenie: AC 17 for 12 damage
With both potential targets engaged in melee, Green Bow EE picks randomly and hopes for the best!
Greenie: Even = Fi 2: AC 24 for 10 damage
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Jeez, that Green 2 made me think it was a crit
Fi ducks as an arrow whizzes by him from the flowerbed.

Round 7

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir is up.

Fleir attacks GS-DD.
Fleir:
With two bites, Fleir tears the air elemental apart into a pile of leaves and water.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Will you use the third bite on Green Sword E after a 5ft step?
I'll assume yes to keep things moving.
Fleir quickly rotates around her companion to bite and trip the swordsman.
Darius spots the fleeing swordsman.
Darius Kolphan: Oh, no you don't! Stop, evildoer!
Hits AC 25 for 7 damage
Hits AC 28 for 10 damage
Crit? AC 18 for 10 damage
No crit.
Hits AC 24 for 7 damage
With a bit of haste, Darius defeats the swordsman with three cold-iron tipped arrows.
Darius Kolphan: Haha, I am like a great hero! Call me the D-Man!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Claire is up, she needs to deal with Poison.
Meghan:
... okay then
Claire ressits the poison!
Chris: lol. D-man.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hehe, it was too easy to resist.
Meghan: do you guys have preferences for which monsters I should aim at?
Hernz: get the flying ones?

Only one of them is fast enough to evade the flames.
Greenie: Scythe C's confusion roll: 68
Green Scythe C hits itself for 9 damage with the head of its scythe.
Bow C's confusion roll: 88
Green Bow C fires at Claire, who burned it previously.
AC 9 for 8 damage

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi is up next.
Chris: Target priority: GB-D, GB-B, GB-E

Fi:
Fi shoots down one of the flying bowmen and uses the last arrow on the fourth.

Chris: I'm trying to track misses. Did one of those miss?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): None of those missed.
Green Bow B chooses between the flying fireballer or the elven archer.
Greenie: Even = Claire 1
Green Bow B shoots at Fi, hitting AC 17 for 12 damage
The archer flies away into the darkness.
Green Bow A decides between Claire and Darius, who it has clear shots to.
Greenie: Even = Claire 2
Green Bow A shoots at Claire, hitting AC 10 for 10 damage

Hawk continues to try to help Ventshi.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Nidri is up next.
Hernz: vegeta never stops... all hits...all the way... kills, no sissy knockout shit... overkills are his thing :)
Cat: veg is still invisible, right?

Cat casts Cure Serious on Ventshi!
Cat: heal 17 HPs.
awwww yeah, the healing is back in gear.
(From George): Oops. Guess we got the NPC killed.
Hernz: correct
Cat: i'd say shout if you need healing, but really i just need to be listening for the distinctive thud of him hitting the ground, 'cause he'll never say it.
Hernz: :D
realtime 6/24 9:26am
Nidri heads over to Ventshi's body and applies healing energy to it.
Nothing's happening.
Green Sword E stands up, provoking an AoO from Fleir.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): If it manages to survive, it lashes out Fleir, probably not rolling a 20 11
Yuuup.
Green Bow E fires at Fi, clearly the biggest threat here.
Greenie: Shortbow hits AC 29 for 11 damage
Fi needs to make a DC 18 Fort Save vs poison to resist 2 Wisdom and 1 Str damage

Round 8

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir is up next.
Oh, forgot Green Bow EE. Let's see if it rolls a 20 to hit Fleir 9
Yuuuuup.
Fi:
Fleir:
Chris: That's the AoO on GS-E.
Cat: ooh, fun puzzle.
i guess next up heal check/k. something check...
Hernz: oh, I like the idea of tagging each character with what they have pending, like fort saves and AOOs! good idea chad!
realtime 6/25 8:40 pm
Fi feels the poison work its way into his system. Fleir bites into the green creature as it stands up but is unable to finish it off immediately.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir's turn!
Fleir:
Chris: I would roll CMB, but I don't think it matters.
Hernz: if the first hit kills it, does fleir move? or overkill like veg? ;)
Chris: Already took a 5' step.
Hernz: btw, I'll be on vaca for the next 10 days or so... not sure if I'll get access to this or not... put me on autopilot if I'm not around... charge something and pummel if on ground, otherwise a galick gun...
realtime 6/26 10:34 am
Green Sword E be dead.
Darius fires three cold iron arrows at Green Bow E.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Shortbow: AC 31 for 8 damage
Shortbow: AC 16 for 9 damage
Shortbow: AC 19 for 5 damage
Two of the arrows stick, while the third flies too low to hit.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Claire is up next.
Meghan:
Claire is attacking with Fireball
Fireball uses remaining: 6
Damage: 29 to each creature in area of effect
On Green Bow E
Meghan: pretty sure it doesn't hit anyone else, nor can I get more than one without a 4th list spell. so meh
realtime 6/27 2:35 p
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Reflex Save 22
Claire unleashes another ball of flame, which the flier mostly avoids.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Scythe C vs Confusion: 4
Green Scythe C, in a moment of clarity, runs onto the stone slab and conjures a spell.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Green Bow C vs confusion 90
Green Bow C fires at the nearest target: Claire.
Greenie: Shortbow: 11 for 9 damage
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi is up.
Chris: Target order: GB-E, GB-EE
Fi:
Chris: Still Cold Iron.
One of the arrows misses, but the other three are enough to stop its singing. It plummets and thuds against the dirty ground.
One bowman flies into the range of your vision.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Even = Darius 1
Greenie: Green Bow B fires at Fi, hitting AC 36 for 17 damage
Crit Confirm? hitting AC 18 for 31 damage
(GM) Chad S. (GM): phew
Still singing at the top of its lungs, the green creatures fires an arrow right into Fi's guts.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hawk Vegeta and Nidri are up next. Hernz is on vacation, so tell me what you want me to do with him.
Chris: If he can attack GB-EE without getting in the flowers, I would say that's the most obvious thing to do.
George: Should Hawk heal Fi or just hang out for now?
Cat: if you wanna go heal fi, i'll try to figure out wtf is up with ventshi.
otherwise if you have something else to do i'll go heal fi.

Hawk Hubertins is activating his Bard ability, Inspire Courage +2
Hawk Hubertins: +2 morale bonus to attack, damage, and save vs fear & charm
Inspire Courage +2 uses remaining: 32
Note: Effect lasts for 2 rounds after song has ended.

Hawk Hubertins is casting Cure Moderate Wounds on Fi
Hawk Hubertins: healing 15 hp!
George: Bard song is free due to casting the spell.
And that's well below average.
Oh, and Ventshi is kinda dead.
Cat:
define "kinda"
George: Well, I think the line chad used was "The wand fails. You can't cure a dead target"
Cat: hawk could've said something heh.
George: I'm actually not sure Hawk knows. His heal check was something like a 4. He just knows that the cure failed.
Cat: lol ok.
realtime 6/28 9:36 am
Hawk realizes he can't do much for Ventshi, so he helps Fi instead.
Nidri arrives and checks. Ventshi's chest cavity was crushed, which led to all sorts of internal bleeding and...hmm. He's dead as a doorknob.
Vegeta: (GM) Heh, I eat tougher plants for breakfast. Eat my GALICK GUN!

Vegeta unleashes a Ki Blast at Green Bow EE, hitting touch AC 26 for 26 fire damage

Round 9

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir's up next. One creature is floating above a flowery field, another is babbling incoherently, and the third... you're not completely sure where it went.
Chris: blah. Fleir will just move in between Fi and the archer.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi, I need another Fort Save vs Poison, DC 18. You will take 2 Wis and 1 Str damage no matter what as the poison is particularly stubborn.
Fi:
Chris: So I take that stat damage anyway?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Yes, the cure requires multiple consecutive saves.
Fi: I'm probably going to need some help with this poison.
Darius Kolphan: I can't help with the poison, but at least I can help with your injuries!
Darius Kolphan casts Cure Light Wounds on Fi, healing 13 hp
Darius Kolphan: And now, to leave the spotlight!

(GM) Chad S. (GM) Darius takes some cover behind a tree, using his haste-enabled speed.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Claire is up next. Hey Hawk, when did you caste Haste, was it round 1?
Chris: Yes, Round 1.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): OK, so it would end at the start of his turn in round 10.
Meghan:
Claire is attacking with Fireball
Fireball uses remaining: 5
Damage: 31 to each creature in area of effect
on green bow B, because why not.
Greenie: Reflex Save: 19
In light or darkness, fireball prevails.
Greenie: Confusion rolls: 3 27
Green Bow C remains behind the trees, babbling about nothing in particular.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Get shootin', Fi.
Chris: I'm going to conserve some cold iron arrows, and use normal ones this attack. Sum all damage to single target before subtracting DR. Targeting GB-B first. GB-C with any extra.
Fi:
Chris: lol. The crits only show up near the end.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Which feat lets you apply damage before DR?
I'm trying to figure out when you would know if it's dead and when it's deal, lol
Chris: Clustered Shots.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I see. I feel like we talked about this before but it probably won't matter in this case.
Oh yeah, it definitely won't matter in this case.
Fi aims carefully and fires three arrows at the same point at the same time. The third arrow is especially well-aimed, going right through the green creature's torso.
The singing finally stops as the flying leafy creature deadrops into the flower bed.
You can see one more creature behind the tree, babbling nonstop.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Let's see: Hawk, Nidri, Fleir and Claire get to move before it does.
Also Vegeta gets to move if you want him to charge and obliterate it.
Chris: He's up next, If he can reach it and punch it, do it.
Vegeta: (GM) Hmm, Instant Transmission... I like the sound of that!

Vegeta Vegeta charges the remaining creature.
Vegeta: 1st attack: AC 32 for 21 damage

Vegeta prides himself as he smashes another creature.

One sane creature

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Okay, those are all the immediate enemies in the area. Fi needs to deal with the poison, so I'll stay in rounds for a bit longer.
If you're not dealing with poison, what will you guys do for the next few rounds?
George: Hawk would stop singing.
Hernz: LOOT!!
Also for future, galik gun is rflx save, not a touch attack. Anyway
I might log in throughout. I can't see the map, but can read at least
Cat: assuming Fi communicates the poison issue...
Nidranisan takes out a scroll of neutralize poison, casts on Fi, and puts the scroll away again.
Nidranisan: caster level check: 25
Nidranisan casts Cure Light on Vegeta!
Nidranisan: heal 7 HPs.
Nidranisan casts Cure Light on Vegeta!
Nidranisan: heal 8 HPs.
Nidranisan casts Cure Light on Vegeta!
Nidranisan: heal 6 HPs.
Cat: ...
well, at least i rolled well on the caster level check, that was probably more important.

realtime 6/29 3:24 pm
Nidri purges the poison from Fi's body, and it stops dulling his mind and weakening his muscles.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi has 4 Wisdom and 2 Strength damage.
Nidri heals most of Vegeta's wounds after he fell.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta is at 40 HP right now.
Darius Kolphan catches his breath.
Darius Kolphan: Ah, Ventshi! He is still unconscious. Nidri, could you heal him, if you please?

Hawk Hubertins drags Ventshi over to Nidri before realizing that he's still invisible.
Nidranisan: Yeah he's not...unconscious, last I checked.
And unfortunately, I do not have a scroll for that, as such.
Tomorrow, I could grant him a Gentle Repose. If we feel that is appropriate.
Or, I could just use up that scroll. There is also the matter of a Restoration for Fi.
Which I could do tomorrow. I'd rather use up the scroll of Gentle Repose...it's cheaper to replace and I hope less likely to be needed.
Hawk Hubertins: I... I thought he was just resistant to wands. And taking a nap.
Vegeta: Is he dead? Heal 27

Vegeta is concerned if he might turn if that's the case
Hernz: Side note, how tall are Eric and Locke? :)

realtime 6/30 9am
Vegeta checks the wounds and yeah, Ventshi's dead.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You find 8 shortbows (6 masterwork , 2 +1), 6 Scythes (4 masterwork, 2 +1) and 4 masterwork shortswords.
As you continue your search, you hear someone trying to remain still. Unlike the healthy plant humanoids you've met, this one is withered, dehydrated, and exhausted. It hasn't noticed your presence yet.
Vegeta: Perception 25
Cat: Eric is about 42 inches tall.
and yeah, open question with ventshi about whether we want to be carrying a corpse around when we're dealing with undead heh.
Hernz: Thanks cat! Good, thought he was taller lol
Cat: i thought so too, but george measured.
Chris: Locke is 47"
Fi: Hmm... advanced desiccation, nutrient deficiency, and something else. You're not with the queen are you?
Nidranisan walks over by Fi to take a look.
Nidranisan:
Cat: anything else wrong?

realtime 7/1 5:17 pm
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Happy Canada Day, everyone

Greenie: The queen's time is short; a month at best.
For her freedom from the fiend, I began my quest.
Greenie coughs
Greenie: With her blessing we remain at our best.
But disobedience puts us near death.
I mourn for your ally, I mourn for mine;
I would advocate you escape while there is time.

Cat: oh well folks, let's go then ;)
Vegeta: Hmph, escape, ha!
George: Let us off to the castle?
Cat: what are we doing with ventshi?
George: Gentle repose?
Cat: if that's what folks want to do, i can wait until the morning or just burn the scroll.
George: Wait until morning seems reasonable to me.
Hernz: Tie him up just in case...

realtime July 4, 9:45 am
Happy 'Murica Day.
Greenie: I see. If you must press on, you must find the queen.
I know the hill that she has been.
on.
Greenie coughs
Greenie: This speech isn't easy, it keeps you on your toes.
A compulsive need to rhyme can sometimes cause much woe.
You don't have time for a rest- everyone knows you're here.
Trying to rest would lead to an ambush, I fear.
Decide how you will approach the queen's hill, it is an hour away.
I can lead you to the base, but I am much to weak to join the fray.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Mister Greenie suggests you approach the queen on the hill and defeat her in order to make progress out of the forest.
Vegeta: Rest? Ha! This couldn't even be considered a workout!

Vegeta will power up to SSJ (barkskin)
Cat: marking off another hour of demonhide.
assuming i just keep it running.
...hawk if you have enough charges on that wand, it might be wise to heal up that way and save our spells.
Hernz: Veg is at 46/57
Hawk Hubertins: It's got a few uses left. A half dozen and one, if I'm counting right.

realtime 7/5 2:17 pm
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Okay, figure out healing and how you want to approach the queen's hill.
Or if we're waiting for Chris and Meghan to return from the Cape.
Cat: i suspect chris will check in, and vote whatever he says in terms of waiting for them to come back from the cape.
i think for healing we should burn the wand, no clue how many fights we're talking today.
it's unclear whether we can really do anything smart about approaching the queen. presumably she knows we're coming so we can't do much creative to surround or surprise.
maybe we can time things so we get one prep round?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Sounds like you guys will get a prep round.
George: Hawk uses the cure stick on Fleir:
rolling 1d8+1

realtime 7/6 10:19 am
Hawk heals some of Fleir's wounds.
George: Looks like Claire could use some too:
rolling 1d8+1
(
5

rolling 1d8+1
(
7

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Claire is at 56/58 HP.
George: One for vegeta:
rolling 1d8+1
(
3
)+1
= 4
Another for Veg or one for Darius?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta's at 50/57 .
George: And I did miscount. Hawk only had 5 charges left in the wand, so one left.
Darius Kolphan finally pays attention, he hasn't been following since the party mentioned Ventshi's injuries.
Darius Kolphan: Casts Cure Light Wounds on himself, healing 6 damage
Ah, help Vegeta. He tends to get into more trouble than I.
Hawk Hubertins: Just remember to duck next time, Darius.
rolling 1d8+1
(
4
)+1
= 5
Darius Kolphan: Ah yes, haha.
George: So Veg is at 55/57 now, right? And Hawk's cure stick is empty.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Yup, he's at 55/57
George: Can wands be recharged? I don't remember.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You cannot recharge them. Arcanists can, but that's a class feature.
George: Ok, so if we can find an Arcanist, they can recharge it, so it's worth hanging on to the empty wand just in case, since it essentially takes no "space" to do so.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Yeah, pretty much. I think it's cheaper to buy a new one outright, though... oh well. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
Chris: Sounds like proceeding to the hill would be best. I still won't have much time to log in for the next couple of days.
Hernz: onwards!
George: Up the hill it is, with one prep round.
Chris: How long after our last battle is this?
Cat: an hour

realtime 7/9 10:23 am
Your guide leads you onward. You make a makeshift gurney to carry Ventshi's corpse.
Your guide sometimes takes odd turns, pauses to drink water, and has coughing fits at times, like it's straining against its instincts.
After about an hour, you reach the base of a tall hill. A stream pours downhill alongside you.
Greenie: And here we are, my final stop;
The queen waits at the top.
You will kill her and gain your freedom,
or I will continue to mourn those doomed.
I will hold the others back,
so do not expect an ambush from the pack.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Okay, give me your 1st round of prep as you climb up the hill.

Vegeta looks pretty
Fi:
Meghan: I still have tons of spells, and armor is still up (foreveeeeer) so who wants a buff?
Hernz: veg won't say no if no one else
Cat:
George: Haste the party, or AA for Fi?
Chris: Haste.
Hawk Hubertins:
George: Hawk's first round action will be to start bard song on his turn.

realtime 7/11 12:14 pm
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Copy-paste fail means I need to rebuild the next room.
NOW LOADING...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Ugh, this UI drives me nuts.
Anyway...
You climb up the hill as the chanting and singing continue to grow.
You find a woman, with vines for hair, seated within a giant plant. Her legs are scarred and she screams incoherently.

Battle: vs Queen Calofisteri

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Roll for intiative.
Knowledge(Nature) check for the queen.
Queen's Init 6
Royal Guard 24
Mystery 13
Darius 17
Chris: I would suggest that Claire uses fly on Vegeta.
He had trouble reaching the ones that flew last time. Also just in case they make any more air elementals.
Hawk Hubertins:
George: Oh great, we're fighting an FF summon...
Chris:
Not that it really matters, but Fi's should be 2 point higher. She would have her dex buff up as a free action while climbing the hill.
Vegeta:
Hernz: Last again!
Cat:
Meghan: fly on vegeta
realtime 7/12 10:00am

Round 1

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Concept idea art for the Queen: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/380343131005503988/
Chris: Are the Greenies size large or just sitting on the grid offset?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): They are offset.
Will fix in a moment, I had to duplicate this entire page.
If you paste a token offscreen there is no way to select it again. Really bad when it has a light effect on it
Two of the swords men dive underground immediately.
One of the creatures casts some magic, flies over the river and begins singing. Another one casts some magic and begins singing in harmony.
Both ready their bows.
The other creature across the river begins casting, taking all of its concentration.
The other creature with a scythe turns into a monster made of earth and begins advancing downhill.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir is up next.
Fi: Is it just me, or has there been even more singing than usual on this continent?
Darius Kolphan: If they weren't singing about wearing our entrails like necklaces, it would be quite pleasant.

Fleir moves forward and defends.
George: Uhm... Is there a cliff at the top of the hill, or is this just a very strange body of water?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I'll go with strange water. There is a pond at the top of this hill.
Darius Kolphan casts Heroism on Vegeta and readies his bow
Darius Kolphan: "The Fantastic Flying Saiyan." Has a nice ring to it.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Claire and Nidri are next.
Fi: FFS. Could have sworn that meant something else...
Darius Kolphan laughs
Darius Kolphan: The play practically writes itself.
Vegeta: heh... thanks both
Cat: i could summon something. like a pteranodon.
oh hey, cold iron elemental?
do these guys not like that?
lol http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/outsiders/elemental/elemental-cold-iron/cold-iron-elemental-medium/
it's slow heh.
Cat: gonna go for it. cold iron elemental. i think i can place it next round when it actually appears.
Meghan: anyone else want a prep spell while we're here?
Chris: Fi would be happy with a greater invis if you've got any to spare.
Hernz: Oooh... 1 round spells!! Woot woot
so if the hill progressively going up, i.e, we can run up, or does each level require jump checks?
is*
realtime July 14, 2017 4.06 pm
(GM) Chad S. (GM): It's a hill, so you can run uphill. You lose 10 feet every time you go up a level.
I'll delay Clarie for now since Mystery won't matter too much.
Nidri begins to focus on conjuring the very elements to her side. Claire considers her next move carefully. Good idea, as two giant plants erupt from the ground.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You can make knowledge (nature) checks to identify the plants.
Their vines crawl around the ground, up and down the hill, ready to lash out.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You can see their vines extend at least 60 feet out, and maybe even further.
Claire, FI, Vegeta and Hark are up next. Hawk said he would inspire courage on his turn, but I don't know if he wants to do anything else.
Chris:
Still can't roll skill checks.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): It's good enough to know these are Dire Fly Traps. They like to grab things and very slowly drag them towards their mouth.
That's about all you get.
Chris: lol. they'll make anything dire.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): From the Plane of Dire
George: Let's see if Hawk knows more...
Hawk Hubertins:
George: Drat. Needed one more point...
Meghan: okay, assuming that i put my wings away after the last battle and said battle did not take more than 8 minutes, I can use my wings again
which is what I'll do

Chris casts Ironskin on Fleir
Chris:
Fi did that :-P
I forgot to roll for arrow recovery last battle.
2 Cold Iron.
woo!
Vegeta:
I got the one on the right

Vegeta pumps up (1 ki for +4 AC for round) and flies double move to the flytrap A
Hernz: I'll provoke... AC 36
CMD 38 v sgrapple
actually, veg can't move that much cause of the +10 rise... removing
and he does not increase his AC for this round since he's far
AC 32, CMB 34
realtime 7/16 3:30 pm
Claire spreads her wings.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hawk recalls Dire Fly Traps move very slowly, but they have a range of 90 feet with their vines. They also have blindsense 60 feet.
The fly traps like to pummel then grab and drag the targets to their maw, where they will digest in acidic juices. They are immune to electricity and have general plant traits.
Fi turns Fleir's skin as tough as iron.
Vegeta runs up the hill, provoking an attack from the Flytrap.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Did it roll a 20? 1
Nope
The grass reaches up and begins wrapping around everything it can, trying to entangle all in range.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta needs to make a DC 18 Reflex Save to avoid getting entangled
The queen's plant emerges from the pond atop the hill.

Round 2

An Owlbear appears!
You hear a rumbling noise approach you from the northeast.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): By the way, we are in dim lighting conditions. Fi has a light spell active. You can see normally in the inner circle. If you have low-light vision, you can see fine up to the edge of the outer circle.
Otherwise everything has a 20% miss chance due to concealment.
Green Bow B fires an arrow at Vegeta, rolling a 20? 13
Fleir, Darius and Nidri are up next.
Nidri, I made you a Cold Iron Elemental. You can spawn it anywhere within 45 feet of yourself. It has 60 feet of tremorsense, so tell me where you put it.
Cat: ok, that's where the elemental shows up.
i think it gets a turn too, but would like to know if the tremorsense picks anything up first.
Vegeta:
phew
what do you mean they can reach this far??
Hernz: veg still has those goggles of night we found, so he's fine for miss chance percentage
also, claire gave veg fly, just so you mark it in the list in that bottom right corner
Vegeta: Also, is the entangle circle an area or volume? (i.e. if I fly, next round, am I safe from it?)
Hernz: Lastly (sorry) how does one drag those spell area effects? I don't think I have the perms?
realtime 7/17 9:36 am
(To Nidranisan): Cold Iron Elemental detects two things underground, approaching the party. Note that the elemental knows, but you and the party don't.
(To Nidranisan): I've outlined the two spots where it detects stuff.
Nidri spreads her scary bat wings.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta, the entangle is on the ground only, so you can fly over it safely.
You should be able to move the spell targeting templates, Vegeta.

Fleir readies an action to attack any bad guys that appear near her or Fi.
George: Sorry, wasn't checking in very often. Hawk would sing, and cast inivisibility on himself, and 5' step. Ok for me to retcon the rest of that action, or should I wait for his next action?
Cat: The iron elemental says something in Terran and points due east.
it burrows (it has burrow 20' movement)
realtime 7/18 2.02 pm
Fleir prepares for trouble as a big lump of cold iron tunnels underground.
Hawk remembers he should be invisible, and does so with the help of magic.
Darius takes a shot at the Owlbear.
Darius Kolphan: Shortbow hits AC 24 for 9 damage
Snaps A lashes out four times at Vegeta.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Any of these 20s? I think Vegeta's AC is 34. 19 15 17 20
Oh mah gawd 10
One of the vines hits him for 14 and tries to grapple him, beating CMD 16
Vegeta retains his footing.
The other plant lurches forward.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Claire, Fi, Vegeta and Hawk are next.
Vegeta:
Hernz: oops, no need for a check if I don't remain flying...

Vegeta flies over the green circle crap and next to the snapper, provoking (he raises AC for one round using 1 pt of ki)
Hernz: assuming I don't get grabbed by the AOO, he'll shoot a galik gun getting plant and archer
I forget if we know what the fey are resistant to as a player... what have we been using against them?
Vegeta:

Fi casts Gravity Bow!
Fi: Duration: 9 minutes
Chris: Staying behind Fleir.
Meghan: welp. fireball is long range.

He then blasts the plant and the flying bowman.

Flytrap 5
Vegeta knows the humanoids don't resist electricity... but it's clear the big plants ignore it entirely.
Fi breaks the GM's Party Effects container to enlarge her bow.
Claire sees if fire will work...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Snaps B's reflex 17
Green Scythe A's Reflex 12
It works rather well.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hawk is up next. I hope George is having a happy birthday.
Hernz: hawk's knowledge check didnt reveal anything on the fly traps resistances?
well, guess we know fire at least

Vegeta sees the fey atop her plant crawl forward. A 10 foot wall of sharp thorns erupt from the ground near the party.

Round 3

Two of the tunneling creatures find themselves face to face with a lump of cold iron. They attack!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Sword A: AC 19 for 17 damage
Sword B: AC 31 for 12 damage
The Cold Iron Elemental senses something underground about 45 feet away.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Green Scythe A uses some kind of magic, curing 22 damage
Green Bow A flies up and fires at (1=Fleir, 2=Darius, 3=Nidri, 4=Claire) 4
Claire, hitting AC 31 for 12 damage.
Claire feels some kind of poison on the arrowhead.
The other archer goes after Vegeta, hopefully not rolling a 20. 6
As you were.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir and Nidri are up. Claire needs to make a save against poison. I put the note above her character.

Fleir continues to wait for an enemy to approach her or Fi.
realtime 7/21 9:49 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I forgot to move the owlbear, sorry about that. If you need to retcon your action, go ahead.
Chris: Hmm.. yeah, that makes a threatening target.
Fleir:
Chris: oops, just use the first.
it was probably enough anyway :-P
And with one bite, Fleir tears the Owlbear in half. It dissipates into nothingness as it lies in her mouth.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I'll give Nidri some time to figure out her next move and delay her tomorrow if I don't hear anything.
Hernz: num num num says Fleir
Did Darius go already?
nvm
Cat: huh. did i not drop a prayer yet>
?
nope ok.
elemental is normally +9 (1d8+7) but now has...i believe prayer and bardsong, so is +3/+3 on top of that, so now +12 / 1d8 + 10
so, attacking sword B
Cat: go go elemental: AC [1d20+12] for [1d8+10]
go go elemental: AC 21 for 15
realtime 7/22 6.23 pm
Nidri prays for the party's success.
The elemental punches one of the leafy creatures, bruising it directly.
Darius gets closer so he can take aim at the flying archer.
Darius Kolphan: Hits AC 27 for 6 damage
(GM) Chad S. (GM): The giant flytrap tries to wallop Vegeta. 2 20 19 9 1
Oh! One of them hit! 7
I think Vegeta's AC is over 33, so the 19 will miss.
The vine hits Vegeta for 17, grabbing him at CMD 15
The other plant lurches forward...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Claire, Fi, Vegeta, Hawk: You're up!

Fi attacks GB A!
Chris: normal arrows.
Fi:

Hawk Hubertins is activating his Bard ability, Inspire Courage +2
Hawk Hubertins: +2 morale bonus to attack, damage, and save vs fear & charm
Inspire Courage +2 uses remaining: 31
Note: Effect lasts for 2 rounds after song has ended.
George: Hawk sings and takes another 5' step.
Meghan:
yussss
and it's time for another fireball!
Claire is attacking with Fireball
Meghan: Fireball uses remaining: 2
Damage: 28 to each creature in area of effect
looks like it's probably best to center at the same place as last time, green scythe a and snaps b

Vegeta switches from defense to offense
Vegeta: heh, not bad, how's THIS!?
Hernz: wow... shitty everything....
and I assume their immune to stunning, being plants and all, but hey, veg tried it anyway
realtime 7/24 8:41 am
Fi fires four arrows and only the first one misses. Fi hits the same area repeatedly, briefly overwhelming the damage resistance.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Flytrap's Reflex 17
Green Scythe's Reflex 18
Claire's fireball hits her foes dead on.
And she shakes off the poison with heavenly grace.
While the plant is immune to being stunned, Vegeta hits it five times, nearly destroying it.
Hawk holds his ground.
The queen points at Vegeta and a pattern of bright dust falls over him.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta, you have been hit with Glitterdust. Make a Will Save DC 19 or be blinded.

Round 4

The elemental notes that something else began moving east, before it got out of tremorsense range.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Green Sword B attacks, hitting AC 32 for 12 damage
Green Sword A emerges from the ground and swipes at Darius, hitting AC 35 for 15 damage
Darius Kolphan: Ah! Again with the stealthy digging!
One archer continues to sing and picks off the next target.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): (1 = Claire, 2 = Fi, 3 = Nidri) 1 hits AC 18 for 12 damage
Another arrow bounces off of Claire's mage armor.
The creature with the scythe approaches and puts up some kind of protection.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Anyone who attacks Green Scythe A must make a Will Save DC 18 or cannot attack Green Scythe A for 8 rounds.
(Until Round 12)
Green Bow B flies and tries to shoot Vegeta, hitting AC 27 for 10 damage
Vegeta dodges the arrow before it can mess with him.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fleir and Nidri is up. Your summoned creature is dead.
Darius will probably try to heal himself.
Cat: whelp at least it hurt something before it went down in flames.
will shield if faith help darius?
i forget if he already has stacking stuff. it's deflection.
Hernz:
Vegeta: Sorry, clicked twice... yay save
Cat: at least the good one was first? ;)

Fleir bites GSA!
Fleir:
Chris: I suppose that makes up for the 20 earlier.
realtime 7/25, 6.13 pm
Fleir almost trips on herself as the swordsman dances around her bite.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Reminder that there's a 10 foot high wall of rose thorns blocking your line of sight. I shouldn't have let that fireball go.
Nidri, a shield of faith will help protect Darius and boost his AC.
Darius Kolphan decides to backflip away, beating CMD 32 with his acrobatics!
Darius Kolphan: The three-point landing felt quite necessary.
Darius Kolphan Casts cure light wounds, healing 11 hit points
Vegeta shakes the dust out of his eyes and continues his quest to kick some butt.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Nidri's up next.
Meghan: Chad: I'm flying. I'm probably 30' up at this point
Cat: i guess i can intimidate green sword A...do these guys count as humanoid?
Nidranisan: Don't worry swordy, we're just making room so the archers can get their arrows in. You won't be lonely for long.
realtime 7/26 10:21 am
Nidri frightens the crap out of the swordsman from beyond her personal shadow.
One of the flytraps crawls closer to the rose-thorn wall and notices Claire flying overhead. A vine comes snaking out from it, trying to grab and drag her.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): The vine hits AC 19 for 16 damage and grabs her if her CMD is 10 or lower
Claire stays afloat even as the razor sharp vines tear through her armor.
Meanwhile, the other plant lashes at Vegeta since his AC is no longer sky high.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): 4 vines: 17 19 20 23 and a mouth 17
Wow, those were some sad rolls
None above 10
Snaps B misses like crazy.
Claire, Fi, Vegeta and Hawk are up next.
Claire, you'll need to make fly checks if you want to hover in place. The flytrap has a LOT of reach so you may provoke an AoO if you move too much or cast spells.
Chris: Fi will attack GBA until it falls. Any extra moves to GSA.
Normal arrows.
Attacks on GSA will have an extra +2 to hit and +1 damage.
Fi:
Chris: Ooh! an 11!
Hernz: we are all rolling shitty
veg is going to not fight all out, thinking he can take down this crap plant easily
Vegeta:
Hernz: 9 8 10 7 10.... sticking with the shitty rolls

Vegeta burns 1 ki to increase his defense for the round
Hernz: I doubt it had 7 HP left, but if so, veg would have stopped and moved instead... let me know
hey, quick Q... fighting defensively... that's a standard action, so you can't do a full attack if you fight defensively, correct? or am I reading that wrong?
Chris: Fighting Defensively can be done as either a standard or full-round action. It's listed as both.
realtime 7/27 12:23 pm
Fi fires a flurry of arrows... but only the first one hits.
Vegeta kills it with his first punch, and considers where he wants to move.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Chris is correct, you can fight defensively as a standard or full action.
Vegeta still has a move action, Claire and Hawk's turns are still up.
Hernz: Veg will move next to the queen, provoking... let's see what she has (hope veg don't die!)
And thanks Chris for clarifying!
Meghan: wait, are Snaps the flytraps?
90' reach?
I am only barely in reach of Snaps B. is there another one I can't see?
Chris: I think as long as you don't fly over them you are fine. You can choose to hover in place if you make a fly check so you don't need to worry about it.
Meghan: no, if i cast I provoke an aoo
Chris: Since you are 30' up, you can be 60' away without being in reach.
Meghan: then how did it attack me?
Chris: It didn't.
Meghan: uhhh...
Chris: The archer did.
Meghan: "One of the flytraps crawls closer to the rose-thorn wall and notices Claire flying overhead. A vine comes snaking out from it, trying to grab and drag her.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): The vine hits AC 19 for 16 damage and grabs her if her CMD is 10 or lower
Claire stays afloat even as the razor sharp vines tear through her armor."
Chris: Huh?
Oh. Vegeta just killed one? Maybe that one?
Meghan: right after nidri intimidated
I was pretty sure the one vegeta was fighting was on the other side of the green dot on the map
given where he is now
Chris: Snaps B attacked Vegeta though and missed a bunch right after you got hit.
Ok Chad, we officially have no idea what happened.
Between these guys having reach 90 and Vegeta having 90 move, nothing is clear without identifiers.
George: Did Fi not take out GBA?
Meghan: well i'm going to burn that fucker
Claire is attacking with Fireball
Fireball uses remaining: 1
Damage: 32 to each creature in area of effect
Meghan: on snaps b
if i need to move 10 ft south before i do this to avoid provoking an aoo, i will
Green bow A is next
should I make a will save to see if I can hit green scythe A too?
i do not
Meghan:
I probably move 10ft south anyway.
Chris: George, no she didn't. Only 1 arrow hit.
Hernz: Fi had some... less than desirable rolls lol
as did most of us too
realtime 7/28 1:58 pm
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Checking math...I got the distances wrong, Snaps B was out of range. Note that it is 20 feet up the hill, so it was about 95 + 10 feet away from Claire on its turn, so she was out of range.
I gave her the HP back.
However that does mean it would move up further instead of attacking.
Note the "+20 feet" that's about 30 feet South East of Snaps B.
Vegeta approaches the queen. The plant she's sitting on lashes out a rose vine, rolling a 20? 10
Claire backs up and unleashes fire on the giant crawling plant.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Reflex Save: 4
Toasty! Claire burns it to a crisp.
She did think about burning the other thing, but just couldn't bring herself to do it.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Technically you lose the action altogether if you fail the Will Save, but enough retcons for now.
Alright Hawk, it's up to you.

George is activating his Bard ability, Inspire Courage +2
George: +2 morale bonus to attack, damage, and save vs fear & charm
Inspire Courage +2 uses remaining: 30
Note: Effect lasts for 2 rounds after song has ended.

Hawk Hubertins is activating his Bard ability, Inspire Courage +2
Hawk Hubertins: +2 morale bonus to attack, damage, and save vs fear & charm
Inspire Courage +2 uses remaining: 30
Note: Effect lasts for 2 rounds after song has ended.
George: First shot from invis, so target is denied dex, other two are normal AC.

Hawk Hubertins is attacking Green Bow A (60 feet up) with his Composite Short Bow!
Hawk Hubertins: Attack Result: 18
(Needs at least 34 to crit.)
Damage Result: 11
Crit: 20/x3
Crit Confirm: 34

Crit: 20/x3
Crit Confirm: 22
Crit Damage: +6
Hawk Hubertins: Type: P
Chris: you also get a +2 bonus to hit if attacking with a ranged attack while invisible.
George: Ok, so first attack hits AC 20 and GBA is denied dex. The other two are as rolled.
Hernz: do you have to roll miss chance?
dim light?
George: Forgot about that. What's the miss chance?
Hernz: I think chad said everytign was dim light, 20% miss chance
unless you have low light or dark vision
Chris: Everything in the white circle around Fi has no miss chance.
Not really sure if we're trying to apply height to that to?
George: I don't see a white circile around Fi...
Hernz: I don't see it either
Chris: Guess only the GM and I see it. It's a 40' radius around Fi of normal light.
80' if you have low light vision.
realtime 7/29 3.10 pm
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Oh, no one else can see the light circle around Fi? Can people see it now?
Hawk's arrow hits the archer, but it doesn't take as much damage as you'd hope.
Up close, Vegeta can see the queen is raving madly, sentient enough to point to where the party and her allies are. She vaguely turns in Vegeta's direction and takes a step back before casting some kind of magic.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Vegeta, I need a Will Save, DC 21. Failure means your Int and Cha drop to 1.

Round 5

(GM) Chad S. (GM): Green Bow B fires at Vegeta, probably not rolling a 20 19
That would have mattered if Vegeta wasn't in defense mode
Fleir, give me a perception check.
Chris: So, no real change if Vegeta fails the save then? ;-)
(GM) Chad S. (GM): (To GM) rolling 1d20+14
(
9
)+14
= 23
(GM) Chad S. (GM): lol
Vegeta is well built to counter this enemy, let's put it there haha
Chris:
uhg
A second swordsman pops from the ground, trying to catch Fleir in a sensitive spot.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): It hits AC 23 for 12 damage (and 8 sneak attack)
I think that's a miss.
Fleir is well armored.
Green Sword A tries to cartwheel away from Fleir, beating CMD 15
(GM) Chad S. (GM): pffft, that's an AoO from Fleir
Green Bow A tries to hover in place. 15
And does! Barely!
A pair of arrows fly from the singing archer.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): 1 = Claire, 2 = Hawk, 3 = Nidri, 4 = Fi 2: Hit AC 32 for 13 damage.
1 = Claire, 2 = Hawk, 3 = Nidri, 4 = Fi 4: Hit AC 14 for 10 damage.
Fi dodges the second arrow, but Hawk isn't as lucky.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hawk, I need a Fort Save against poison, DC 18.
Fleir:
Chris: wow an 8!
Fleir:
Even with its mobility, Fleir trips the creature before it can escape.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): That's the royal guard. I think everyone is up. Darius is going to help take down the flying archer if it's still standing (or do you want him to shoot right after Fleir?)

Fleir bites at GSB!
Fleir:
Chris: If it goes down before the last, it will bite GSA.
With three swift bites, Fleir gnaws one of the fighters to mulch.

Fi attempts to shoot GBA again.
Fi:
Chris: normal arrows.
any extras are directed to GScythe A.
Fi:
Chris: so close.
With two normal arrows, Fi brings the flying archer to the brink of death...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): The good news is you haven't made the will save yet because you haven't tried to attack it.
You haven't had to roll the will save.
Chris: ok.
So two arrows missed?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Yes, 2 missed
Chris: wow, GBA had that many HP left? I assume it was at least 25 damage.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): DR!
Chris: That was with DR10.
sum all damage before subtracting.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Uno momentto, por favor...
I forgot about that feat
It turns out two arrows was enough to stop its singing.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Only 2 arrows hit, but that was enough
Chris: thanks. Off to costco for me. Any snack requests for tomorrow?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Tiny carrots plz
Basically, anything vegan would be great
Hawk Hubertins:
George: I guess Hawk will live to sing another day.
Cat: magic missile 21
snowball 68
Vegeta:
yay, no dirp!
Meghan: any suggestions on elemental usage against the queen?
Chris: Have any Knowledge checks been rolled for her? What should we roll if not?
realtime 7/31 10.17 a
Meghan: I have k. arcana and k. planes
The poison wears off of Hawk. Vegeta feels his mind at ease.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Knowledge (Nature) checks will help. Has anyone seen her yet besides Vegeta?
Darius Kolphan: Ah, an intruder!
Will Save 23
A fine target for my cold iron arrows!
Shortbow hits AC 22 for 5 damage
Shortbow hits AC 13 for 5 damage
Shortbow hits AC 28 for 5 damage
George: Nice damage rolls.
Darius hits with 2 arrows for minimal damage
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I can't believe I rolled 3 on a 3d6...
Okay, Party's up, except Fleir.
George: So we have Green Scythe A, Green Bow B and the summ... err, queen?
Hawk will sing and try to attack GSA. Rolling his will save:
Hawk Hubertins:

Hawk Hubertins is activating his Bard ability, Inspire Courage +2

Hawk Hubertins: rolling 1d6
(

= 4
George: Ok, nevermind. Proceeding with the next two attacks.

Hawk Hubertins: Type: P
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Is this cold iron arrows?
Hawk Hubertins: Ignore the attack with the 22. Must have double clicked. And yes, these are cold-iron arrows.
George: Err, should have been OOC.
Hernz: George, your Croat confirm looks like 2x dmg?
Crit... not croats... we aren't hitting Croatia
(GM) Chad S. (GM): It crit for 1+3 extra damage
Wait, that should include the haste, prayer etc damage
Good point Hernz
That's just enough
Hawk's arrow decimates the creature before it can get close.
George: Yay! Hawk's not useless!
Chris: Depends on if you think we saw her before the vine wall went up.
Also, I think you already had Fi go and take out Green Bow A.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): You are correct.

Vegeta steps into "the boss" and pummels away
Vegeta:
Hernz: wow.... there goes the streak of shitty rolls
Cat: is veg still invisible?
Hernz: no, that was the last fight... he flies in this one
Cat: ok.
Hernz: how long is nidri's ranged healing?
Cat: i forget, i think you can raise something 2 range increments by increasing it 2 levels.
Hernz: ah ok
Cat: but also if i double move over there, flying, hasted...i can get pretty close.
fly 60
Hernz: does that include the +30 from haste?
Cat: nope.
realtime 8/1 9;40 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Happy August everyone.
Damn, Vegeta's streak of shitty rolls ended, hehe
Vegeta strikes hard and fast. He feels her skin resist his damage, and he's thankful for his style training.
He hears something tunneling behind him, but he's not sure what...
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Nidri and Claire, show me your moves or get delayed to Round 6.
Hernz: she immune to stunning?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Uh... no, but 21
It didn't matter this turn.
Hernz: well means she doesnt act next round if she stunned :)
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Oh your DC is 22? Jeez Hernz
I thought it was 17
Hernz: :D
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Welp, gotta make this more dramatic.
Vegeta's blow throws her off balance, and the plant wraps it vines to prevent her from falling out.
Up close, Vegeta can see her badly scarred legs and hear her labored breathing. He also sees two puncture wounds near her neck.
Hernz: it's like when I played baldur's gate, and went in with 2 lvl 7 mages casting web on a gret wyrm red dragon until it rolled a 1 on it's save, got entangled, and I swarmed and killed... and got the holy sword for my paladin at level 7 lol
(GM) Chad S. (GM): lol
Hernz: took me about 7 reloads lol
Vegeta: Another one of these vampire victims...
Chris: Meghan keeps trying to get an answer on if we know what element she should use. Those of us with K. Nature didn't get a response on if we were able to see her before the wall went up.
Cat: flying over the wall, that's a double move.
realtime 8/2 10:06 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Nope, you didn't get a good look at her before the wall emerged.
So no one has gotten a chance to identify her.
Nidri uses her wings to fly up the hill.
The plant grabs the queen as she is too stunned to support herself. Her scarred legs dangle off the plant for a moment before the plant's vines pull her back on.

Round 6

Green Sword A tries to burrow away, provoking an AoO from Flier.
Meanwhile, Vegeta hears and sees an earth elemental erupt from the ground.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hits AC 25 for 16 damage
Huh, right on the nose.
Green Bow B continues to sing and fires another arrow at Vegeta.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Green Bow B hits AC 20 for 11 damage
Nidri's Darkvision sees an archer fly about 30 above the hill's surface.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Okay, the party is up. The queen will recover from stun right before Vegeta's turn.
Vegeta notices the queen's wounds already starting to heal.
Chris: Fi and Fleir move around the wall.

Hawk Hubertins is activating his Bard ability, Inspire Courage +2
Hawk Hubertins: +2 morale bonus to attack, damage, and save vs fear & charm
Inspire Courage +2 uses remaining: 29
Note: Effect lasts for 2 rounds after song has ended.
George: Hawk sings and double moves.
Hernz: chad, I'm not AC25... I'm AC 32... they did an update and all my bonuses got stripped
so retro and gimme back my hps! lol
yeah, in case you have buffs on, uncheck and recheck them off so they apply properly
Cat: thx for warning.
fixed mine.
Hernz: I'll wait till Claire goes, I guess...
chris, did you do the AOO for fleir?
Vegeta: ok, well, if Claire doesn't kill Calli with whatever, Veg will pummel her... if Calli falls, these go to the golem instead

Vegeta is starting to look a little drained
realtime 8/3 11:40 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Screwed by the character sheet updates, eh Hernz? I'll return your HP.
Yeah, Chris, Fleir has an AoO she can take against Green Sword A.
Sounds like Vegeta is waiting for Claire to make a move. Nidri?
Meghan: Yeah, I don't have k.nature. I listed which knowledge skills i have. if no one's telling me what she's immune/not immune to then whatev
Claire is attacking Green Bow B (30 feet up) with Burning Arc
Burning Arc uses remaining: 5
Damage (primary): 9d6, 36
Meghan: Damage (secondary): 4d6, 17
Damage (tertiary): 2d6, 8
Hernz: Fire did good on plants before... lightning not as effective when veg used on plants
Meghan: I will need to position. For now I'm taking out green bow B, I think.
if I try to hit her with fire from here I've only got a line attack, and you'd be in it
Hernz: Sounds good
Meghan: also they're 60' lines
will do next round
George: Ok, so now that I can see her, is there a particular k/skill I can roll for Hawk to know stuff about her?
Chris: AoO
Fleir:
Chris: That's not right...
That should have a +15 instead of +10. So that hits AC21.
Still wrong. What is up with these buffs not working right. Final answer is +16 which is AC 22.
Fleir:
George: You need to unset and reset buffs on the sheet after the last update for them to all be calculated correctly.
Chris: yeah, it took two attempts for them to come up correctly. But then I also had to reselect the attack type in the attack fields for those to propagate as well.
Cat: pretty sure we decided i don't provoke with shield of darkness up...gonna bring veg some healz.

Cat casts Cure Moderate on Vegeta!
Cat: heal 14 HPs.
i am so good at these d8's.
Hernz: nice..... lol
realtime 8/4 10.41 a
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Reflex Save: 13
Claire burns the archer. It barely hangs on.
Nidri heals some of Vegeta's wounds.
With the strength of 4 punches, Vegeta knocks the queen off of her plant perch. She lies face down, breathing heavily.

Round 7

Some of the queen's wounds heal. She's still helpless.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Darius's Perception 23 vs Stealth 34
Darius find the creature that tunneled underground. Too bad he's unaware.
Greenie: Green Sword A hits flatfooted AC 32 for 13 damage and 22 sneak attack damage
(GM) Chad S. (GM): ...somehow I knew a crit was coming.
Green Sword A hits flatfooted AC 19 for 11 damage
Darius drops like a rock.
Green Bow B continues to sing and fires back upon Claire.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Hits AC 31 for 13 damage
Dice are rollin' hot, folks.
Confirms AC 18 for 13 damage
Green Scythe B continues to pummel Vegeta. Hits AC 25 for 16 damage
Green Scythe B continues to pummel Vegeta. Hits AC 25 for 16 damage
With Vegeta's corrected AC, that's a double miss
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Party is up. Darius is down. You need a DC 20 K. Nature check to ID the queen.
Vegeta: Is that all you had?

Vegeta turns to GSB
Vegeta: you should have run when you had a chance
Hernz: chad, I added the HP from nidri's healing since I should be at 38 (maybe you didn't give back HP for that AC25 miss)
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Oh I thought it had been added already. You can add that back.
Vegeta:
Hernz: my first crit in ages!! let me guess, immune to crit?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I mean, doesn't really matter? But it's not immune.
You'd think with 6 attacks per round they would crit more often, heh
Hernz: only 5!
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Well if it helps you needed all 5 and the crit, so it did matter.
Hernz: PHEW!
Vegeta destroys the rocky creature (and the plantlike creature it reverts to) in a single blow.
Hernz: AND he was sickened with no save for one round!
lol
(GM) Chad S. (GM): BAM!
Vegeta: heh... too late now
This thing here seems to be healing....
(GM) Chad S. (GM): One improvement I should have done to this map: Add side views so the height is more obvious.
Fi:
Chris: Did you apply Fleir's AoO that you had me roll?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Fi has heard many stories about these kinds of guardians. Nourished by the forest and supposedly blessed by the gods, creatures like her form a symbiotic relationship. As long as her body remains in her homeland, she will recover rapidly from injuries.
AoO was applied.
Chris: k
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Only attacks with Cold Iron and damned by Evil creatures can halt her regeneration.
Fi: Well, I'm fresh out of evil.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): No evil zone here (TM)
One of her subjects could temporarily take over as the ruler in emergency situations, if she can be convinced to surrender.

Fleir runs over to deal with GSA.
Fleir:
(GM) Chad S. (GM): It's still kickin'. I assume you try to trip it?
Fleir:
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Aaaaand the trip.
Chris: Fi will attack GBB with normal arrows. Any extra attacks will be applied to GSA with a +1 to hit, but with a +4 to AC from being prone and +4AC from tree cover if it applies.
Fi:
1 arrow defeats the flying archer. The singing stops.
Fi misses with the next arrow, but the third one defeats it.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Did you want to redirect the 4th arrow, or will you keep that for later?
Chris: No other visible targets besides the queen?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): That seems to be it.
Chris: I'll save it.

Sacrifices

Fi: Darius is all clear for you to heal, Hawk.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Okay, then. We're still in rounds because the queen is regenerating.
Also Darius is in trouble.
Fi: Vegeta, keep her down, while we figure this out.
The worn, withered plant creature pokes its head onto the field, frowning at the carnage.
Greenie: The others halted. They know the queen is in trouble.
I begged them to wait, and then hurried here on the double.
Fi: Do you think she can be convinced to surrender?
Greenie: Apologies for the bias, but the Queen is serene.
A malevolent disease courses through her very being.
In her weakened state, you may convince her to relinquish her power.
I nominate myself as a vessel; at least you may proceed onwards while I help the queen.
Vegeta:
Hernz: seeing if Greenie is trying to pull a fast one on us
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Greenie seems to believe what he's saying. He also feels desperate. A bunch of strangers did just walk through the forest and kill a bunch of warriors, the elite guard and are keeping the queen comatose.
Fi: It's fine with me. It pains me to have had to resort to this in order to free this place from the evil.
Vegeta: who wants to convince the queen? I'm in no mood for a punching bag

George is casting Cure Moderate Wounds on Darius
George: healing 18 hp!
That was Hawk healing Darius.
(To Hawk Hubertins): Cure Moderate Wounds sez "Target is dead, cannot heal."

Hawk Hubertins screams.
(To Hawk Hubertins): I'm 0 for 2 on allied NPCs.
Hawk Hubertins: Nidri... I'm... He's...

Hawk Hubertins falls to his knees and bows his head.
Vegeta: what the blazes happened back there?
Chris: WE HAS SRS NPC PROBLEMS HEREZ!
George: Chad has srs NPC problems. ;)
Chris: He wants us to spend our money on raising them.
George: Because clearly we're getting too many magic items.
Chris: How much for a wand of Raise NPC?
Hernz: lolol
he'll have the queen res him, don't worry... he spent way too much time creating him to have him die off lol
ok, so while some of us get upset over Darius, someone has to "convince" the queen to relinquish her power... Chad - is this a check, or do we assume we just do it?

realtime 8/5 11:48 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Someone give me a Diplomacy check and a good speech to calm the queen down.
Or you know, just damn her long enough to halt the regeneration so you can Coup de Grace her so I'm 0 for 3 on NPCs
George: Hawk will diplo-bomb. Who's helping?
Chris: Fi attempts to help whoever leads.
Fi:
Chris: nope
Hawk Hubertins: Your Majesty, please, be at peace. Your lands, and you yourself have been attacked by a great evil. My companions and I have come to end that evil, but we cannot do so while you fight us. Be at peace. Rest, and heal. Give over your mantle for the time being to your faithful servant who would take on that burden until you are healed and freed from the corruptive forces of the evil we seek to end. I beg you, Majesty, do this so we may help to free you and your lands from this evil force.
George: Seriously?
Ok, who else is helping?
The death of another comrade weighs heavily on Hawk's mind. All because of the queen's command. Thanks to the corruption of Baat. He tries to remain neutral, but the stress is getting to him.
Cat: betting claire will assist...nidri is probably busy.
Nidranisan crouches next to Darius, mumbling quietly about how soon we expect to be back in a civilized area with access to spells and scrolls.
Hernz: veg will likely pummel the shit out of the queen if you guys fail the diplo :)

realtime 8/6 9:18 am
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Anyone has any magical means of calming the queen down? Any way of boosting Claire's Diplomacy check even further?
Darius has the Calm Emotions spell but he's kind of dead right now.
If not, I'll move onto "Plan B" tonight or tomorrow. Not as good as "Plan A".
If Claire hasn't rolled her Diplomacy check by then, I'll roll for her.
George: Hawek can Inspire Competence to give Claire a +3, an will do so if he can.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): He can.
Meghan: am I calling a truce or just diplo-assisting?
also, I'm getting a +3 from hawk?
I mean, if you want "magical means of calming the queen down" that's what call truce is for
Anyway
That's my terrible roll
Meghan: you can decide if I'm just assisting Hawk or if I'm trying to calla truce with the queen
that's with Hawk's +3 from inspire confidence
if she's an outsider, it's a 39
Hernz: veg might be able to assist... but nah lol
George: Ok, so Claire has at last a 40 with Hawk's help, and maybe a 43. Anyone else helping?

realtime 8/7 12:16 pm
Greenie: My queen, if I may be so bold.
Relinquish your power, allow me to hold.
The castle creature has brought you close to doom.
But with their help, you will again bloom.

Diplomacy assist 28
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Phew
The queen stops babbling enough to look up at the party. Tears running from her bloodshot eyes, she curls up into a fetal position and buries her head into her hair, her shame apparent. She shudders for a moment and the grass near her withers. The plant she used as transport collapses and decomposes immediately.
(GM) Chad S. (GM): The green creature following you looks on at its fallen queen. Its dirt yellow leaves erupt into a bright, vibrant green. It stands upright, even taller than before. It hair blossoms into a mix of flowers, nuts and fruits. The grass around it bursts alive, surging a few feet away.
The green creature following you looks on at its fallen queen. Its dirt yellow leaves erupt into a bright, vibrant green. It stands upright, even taller than before. It hair blossoms into a mix of flowers, nuts and fruits. The grass around it bursts alive, surging a few feet away.

Greenie: This… is frightening. Every ounce of myself, surging.
As your guide speaks, you hear the sounds of trees creaking, twisting and turning far in the distance.
Greenie: You are about 8 hours from the edge of the forest. Beyond that is the lake, and then the castle. You will have safe passage to the edge of the forest.
You… should rest here and regain your strength.
A giant leaf wraps around the queen, even as her body continues to shudder.
Greenie: Your fallen allies, I will preserve their bodies and bring them here. We all have much mourning to do. Many important lives were lost, today.
Its body bulges uncontrollably for a moment.

Greenie: The queen has only kept enough energy for self preservation. She has given me almost everything else. I am not meant to hold this much energy...
You already see some of the fruits on its head are ripening.
You already see some of the fruits on its head are ripening.
Greenie: If you can, please find some way to help the queen. Powerful restorative magic. I will not last for more than a few days like this. And then… this forest will shrink considerably.
George: Right, so we need to find someone to cast "Heal" or somesuch?
(GM) Chad S. (GM): Roughly, yes.
Hernz: Quick, let's get to level 11 in 2 days so nidri can cast that!
Cat: didn't think to bring scrolls of that, sorry.
i do have one of "Restoration" (no perm levels)
Vegeta: While you're here, mind if we leave Darius with you?

realtime 8/8, 8:45 pm
Greenie: Yes, leave him here. I will preserve his and the snake man's body.
Silence falls over the forest as the fighting comes to a halt. The guide lumbers off, its body trembling with borrowed energy.
The party grieves for a fallen friend and a friend they barely met. Memories of the destroyed monastery flash through their mind.
Up in the sky they see something fly by: A swarm of bats flying up toward some kind of building.
Despite the loss, they must press on. They came here to slay a great evil, and nothing but death will slow them down.

Level Up! You are now Level 10!

CHAPTER COMPLETE
Level Up! You are now level 10!
Hernz: woooooooooo

Vegeta has 63 HP
Meghan: Nice. I have 62
Hernz: what? we should have the same...
Meghan: max at first level and then average round up * remaining levels?
Hernz: yup
Meghan: 6+9*4 = 42
then I have 10 levels of +2 con
Hernz: average round up each level
oh
Meghan: average of a d6 is 3.5. Round up is 4, right?
Hernz: nvm... I thought you had d8s... nevermind
Meghan: lol no. I'm a sorc. I'm lucky I don't have d4s
Hernz: oh, it's nidri and hawk that have the same as veg
Meghan: oh shit i get 5th list spells
this will end well
uhhh...all my remaining prepared spell counts disappeared.
do they all come back when we level?
Hernz: chad said we rested before we left
(GM) Chad S. (GM): I mean you could ignore the Guide's advice and charge the castle directly.
Meghan: Do I stay on brand with another fire spell? "Fire snake" might work
(From Vegeta): veg gets improved critical as a monk feat, and replaces abundant step (instant transmission, which belongs to goku) with ki leech
Meghan: Cool, at 11th level I get flame strike
Hernz: is it a bloodline thing?
Meghan: yeah
Hernz: nice...
Meghan: Looking at 5th list now.
Teleport is always nice. Also, Cloudkill
and "Feeblemind" ... is that what we called Ray of Derp?
"Angelic Aspect" is redundant
sort of
Ooo, Elemental Body. "Form of! Fire!"
Meghan: Also Baleful Polymorph
Hernz: I was always a fan of wall of force
Meghan: lol, Permanency
Hernz: vampiric shadow shield
Meghan: So teleport is funny because I can bring 3 people with me
How many of us are there?
Hernz: ditch vegeta and fleir lol
Meghan: yeah, but I can cast it 4 times
(I only need 3)
it'll be like that river-crossing problem
we can't leave fleir without fi or she'll eat the rest of the party
Hernz: lol... veg gets two things... improved crit as a monk feat, and ki leech... not bad
George: Ok, so Hawk can now sing for 37 rounds per day, and there's a spell that would let him use two performances at the same time costing 3 rounds of bardsong per round that state is maintained, granting him 11 rounds of two simultaneous songs.
Err, no, 10 rounds because the spell is duration 1/level.
Hernz: that's pretty sweet... any new songs? bardsong still do +2 or it go up?
George: Still +2. Goes to +3 next level.
Not sure what secondary performance he'd use though, so maybe not so much on that one.
OTOH, Song of Healing "Grant up to 3 targets fast healing 2"... "When the song ends, they heal 1d8+1/level and are cured of any of the following conditions: exhausted, fatigued, nauseated, paralyzed, sickened, or stunned.
"
Hernz: wow, that's a good one!
George: Yeah, that's a definite.
Meghan: nice
also: you guys should vote on my new spell. I'm not good at picking
Hernz: I like versatility in spells... teleport would help quite a bit, as would wall of force... another fire spell.... do they do anything cool at level 5?
George: So in addition to Song of Healing, Hawk can potentially get Dim Door...
Locate Creature?
Meghan, TP is good. Do you get 1 spell or two?
Meghan: just one
but i can cast it 4 times
do you think i can feeblemind a vampire?
I'm tempted to take elemental form so I can wade into combat and drop fireballs on myself.
that'd be hilarious
but it's only resist fire 20
Meghan: which, like, really? how is a fire elemental not fire immune?
baleful polymorph the vampire into a mouse? a vampiric mouse?
Chris: Fi already has a way of pocketing Fleir, just hasn't needed it yet.
Meghan: lol
so we leave vegeta behind then
Vegeta: "You'll come back for me, right?"
Claire: "... sure."
Chris: Woo 43HP
Cat: well, i get ONE 5th list spell.
clearly, i should take raise dead.............
Chris: hah.
Need it often enough.
Also, Fi has a bunch of str and wis damage.
Cat: i can fix it tomorrow.
i think.
since we're resting at this point, probably reasonable.
not loving the spell selection on the divine side.
Spell Resistance could be useful i guess but i have like a million preps.
suggestions welcome.
Cat: also i'll be putting together another shopping list of scrolls...
Chris: And that puts Fleir at 93HP.
Cat: lol fleir.
the only reason we succeed at literally any fight.
Meghan: yup
Hernz: Lol. Raise dead is good. But costs 5k per use. Breath of life is a raise dead within one round, zero cost :)
And it's also a cure crit
Mass cure light just from the fact that it has range.
Slay living for 12d6+10 touch damage...
Mass cure can also be as a little fireball vs undead while healing allies in melee
Meghan: I think I'm going to take Teleport
Hernz: Do eeeeet
Meghan: oh for fuck's sake
look. if I add something under the tab "5th list" then default the level of the spell to 5
what's happening is that it's expecting me to change the level after I add the spell, and when I don't do it fast enough (or switch the tab to check the details) it moves it to the 0th tab.
like, really?
also let's hope it saves me # to be used this time. erased them all again when I reloaded the page
George: Yeah, I hit that last night adding my spell too. Really annoying bug in the sheet.
